crashdan, this is an important question for you to answer because there are two main types of product: shaped and unshaped. The latter gives you the best latency and is what you would need if you want to do online gaming, P2P, etc. and demand the best possible performance (especially during peak periods/business hours).
However, unshaped bandwidth is very expensive. Since it seems you are price-sensitive, my two recommendations to you (in order of preference) are:
1. IS Fibre Semi-shaped 10GB (~R569 from
www.nexus.co.za)
2. SAIX Shaped 10GB (~R490 from
www.webafrica.co.za)
If you are on a 4Mbps line, I would recommend option 1. I have compared the performance of these two on a 4Mbps line and there is a night and day difference. Also, option 1 provides 10GB of local bandwidth after you hit your cap (so it's 10GB combined local and international + 10GB local only).
If you are really concerned about price and are not on a 4Mbps line, then option 2 will suit you just fine. However, once you are capped, that is it - you will only be able to access your ISP's web site (which is fine, you can then purchase prepaid bandwidth to get you through the rest of the month).
There may be other ISPs out there that offer these products cheaper, but I have been extremely happy with both Nexus and WebAfrica.
OpenWeb and
