I use avast home edition because it's free and I found it very effective to block spyware and to identify potential harmful files. What do you guys use?

I use Free AVG antivirus as well as AVG anti Spyware and their free anti rootkit. I also have Avast running in background and only once in the last year Avast caught a virus that AVG missed somehow.

A while ago there was a thread running re Nod32. Hailed as the best and maybe so, but I recently as last week had to fix and clear another PC and loaded AVG and on top of it did a Nod32 free trial scan. There were 83+ viruses with a variety of 5 types found by AVG during the Nod32 scan, Trojans and worms. As Nod 32 opens a file to scan it the AVG intercepted and warned about the virus and on instruction cleaned it or removed it. Nod32 found on the end 0, that’s right, zero viruses just showing how effective AVG intercepted and removed those on the disc. One was in particular damaging as I ended up having to reload all the installed applications as it affected the .exe execute files mostly

I opted not to use an OS that was prone to attacks. :)

EDIT - though I was a fan of Kaspersky when AOL was giving it away.

At the moment using Windows Onecare but after my format which I plan to do in about a week. I'll also install Avast, its free and low on system resources.

PC Cillin on my main pc, NOD32 on another, & AVG on all my other pc's

ESET NOD32... Small program, but yet the most effective one that I have ever seen...! Cheap enough to purchase though...

Ive used almost every anti virus out there... Norton, Mcafee, Nod32, Panda, Avast, Bitdefender... and every time i come back to Kaspersky.

KAV 7 is just the best ive used. It just feels solid, and its great for visiting dodgy websites that have scripts and exploits etc embedded inside.

ok bwana the time has come to sticky a freakin anti virus thread

u know you need to do this bwana

do it for the love of GOD hahaha

AVG all the way baby

I fixed a friends pc the other day, when it was up and running I saw it had nod32, on his last scan it had found 36 infections, I ran it and it found another 6. A good program you say, well actually he had a very crappy personal security policy that let viruses onto his pc in the first place.
