Hey hey,

So, since last week I've been having a just meh time with my internet (and sometimes the phone) and I cannot seem to get any help with it. Every day from about 12pm and lasting until about 6pm, everything just goes to pot and chatting with CW support seems to point that it's an exchange issue ...... My luck they've just added more customers to it and it's now congested or there is an actual fault there. It's across all ISP's I try, no difference at all -

Have tried FB, call center more times than I care to admit, etc etc. Nothing is forthcoming. So how do I explain to them what my issue is that will get some arses moving to fix the problem? Years back a friend had the same issue and they wouldn't look at it because they literally didn't know wth he was on about :wtf: If anyone can throw some info my way on how to get this sorted, I think I may just love you

P.S - router stats added - I've only recently been bumped up to 5mb, happened without me even knowing. Wondering if that's the issue or not.

Hi,

I'm having the exact same issue as you. The line seems fine for downloads but I have packet loss - which ofc makes any online game unplayable. Also cant stream twitch.

The issues is that the technician doesn't know what I am talking about.... so this is really frustrating trying to explain to him why my line is not fixed when he thinks everything is fine. Hope you find a solution.

Remember when posts like these used to get more attention ......... :(

Something ain't right with your SNR and Line Attenuation. Figures are way high.
Do you have a telephone connected to the line? Check if there's any static.
Has someone performed a physical line test?

SNR:

6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems
7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
11dB-20dB is good with little or no synch problems
20dB-28dB is excellent
29dB or above is outstanding

LA:

20dB and below is outstanding
20dB-30dB is excellent
30dB-40dB is very good
40dB-50dB is good
50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

Confirmed pretty decent stats which led me to find out it's congestion so pretty much tough takkie for me

Update

Had a tech phone me this morning, ask what the issue was and say he's off to the exchange. Internet and phone go off for about 30 mins so obviously he was doing something. Then he phones me, says he changed my port (something about umc and now mdf or whatever) and all good. An hour later and I'm still having the same shyte  What the actual hell man.

Dude your LA is > 100db (per your screenshot). >60db is considered problematic.
What are your stats after the tech did their thing at the exchange.

^ it's a D-Link so the stats are missing decimals ..... the 145 is 14.5. Sorry, should have mentioned that.

OT - phoned Telkom because it's still awful and they said tech was at exchange and fault closed. FML.

My luck they've just added more customers to it and it's now congested

I'm also in that boat now, they upgraded our exchange to a 4mb two weeks ago,and immediately started having problems.

This had me suspecting they added more people and i can only think this is the case as i'm still having problems and i did all the tests and countless phone calls.

Have your telephone line checked, i had this problem when i got internet for the first time and thought it was congestion, they came out and fixed the line.

Sorry to hear you're also having issues, it's a stupid situation to suffer and we're at the end of 2016 huh. As to it being the phone, probably not ..... been here almost 2 years no issues like this at all until 2 or 3 weeks ago. Telkom just closes the fault and ignores you when it comes to congestion it seems.

Worth a check, something could've happened to the line, they can check it over the phone for you.

With congestion you will have times where it's fine and other times the internet is dead in the water.

If your line is broken,it will be like that 24/7 and it can look like it's congestion,i know because it happened to me.

Btw have you tested it with another modem?

Post a traceroute on here

Will post a traceroute tomorrow, if for no reason other than you guys wanna see it. It happens daily from 12 ish to 6 ish so it will be easy to do.

P.S - have tested with 3 modems and 4 ISP's, all the same result yeah.

Lucky me it started early today :erm:

No luck with Telkom again as the fault has been closed so I need to shut up and go away obviously .....

Eish looks like congestion yes. If you are with afrihost ask on the forum for afriman if you can get the SAIX test account to do some tests.

Get the same results with Telkom test account too so it's hundreds congestion. The rough part is getting them to care enough to fix it, if there even is a fix. Managed to get the fault relogged, let's see what does or doesn't happen once again.

On another note, I was toying with maybe grabbing an LTE account so I checked the coverage map and it shows covered but wouldn't you know it, the verification sms says all I have is 2g/3g. Be nice if they could get their ducks in a row.
