What are the possible causes?

Hi All,

My internet connection was running smoothly as always (6Mbps Business ADSL with Afrihost). I was busy working on 21 June 2016 with no problems when all of a sudden my Download Speed crawled to a halt (down to 96kbps).

I thought it might have been a temporary issue. Switched off the router and waited till morning. Unfortunately nothing changed. I contacted Afrihost and they said its not on their side and that it is either A) The Router or B) Telkom Line. I went and bought a back up router to test the issue, however it was still the same (between 96-200kbps down & upstream).

I logged a Fault with Telkom on 22 June 2016. They kept saying that they are testing it remotely and the apparently today (25 June) they claimed to have sent a technician out and that the problem was fixed. However no technician was at the property or at the box on the corner.

Here is a link to the speed test

My router stats are as follows:

-Connection Speed: 96kbps Downstream 256kbps Upstream
-Line Attenuation: 46.00db Downstream 31.5db Upstream
-Noise Margin: 7.7db Downstream 6.0db Upstream

The Line Attenuation is extremely high. I am not sure if that has anything to do with my issue.

Can anyone please provide me with possible explanation and/or solution to this issue.

PS
Any suggestion to a different ISP (besides Afrihost) that will be able to provide Uncapped, Unshaped, Unthrottled service?

Your line is poked badly. That snr at that speed... It's like a wet piece of string.

Also, try removing your pots filter and see if it helps

Who manages your line? AH or telkom, who ever its with log a fault with them.

Afrihost manages it. The fault was logged via them.

The reason i am so angry and need advice is because i run my business using that line. With my internet being down i cant do anything. Now i have extra costs due to lines not being attended to
