So this just appeared.

I am not 100% sure if its the same side of the road they layed fibre a year or so back.

Please tell me this is a sign of fibre to be rolled out?

Or just an ADSL upgrade?

That is a MSAN. Mainly for ADSL/VDSL but can take fibre (GPON/AE) line cards if Telkom so choose

He says it FIBRE...!!!!

Yeah baby!!!

But.. still not Eta and when i can get.

Don't get your hopes up my friend, we have plenty of those around us and they all VDSL :-(

Oh boy oh boy, does this mean I can upgrade my line speed? I live just up the road from there and I have been stuck on a 4meg line

My understanding is that it is a MSAN as stated that terminates with fiber. It doesn't necessarily mean that from that point to the consumer it is fiber. It is just the backhaul to the Telkom network is fiber.

So your ADSL line quality and speed should improve as there is less copper in the network.

The above. Many people thought they were getting fiber, but what was actually meant was that fiber was being rolled out to the exchange, not to you. (FTTC, e.g. VDSL)

Great, I was so excited at the possibility of having a fibre connection. The line quality has surely improved, I'm on a 4mb line and now syncing at 5mb. I know there is still copper between my house and the exchange but surely they can upgrade us now to 10mb atleast? I live less than 200m from the exchange.

Anyone?
