Recently I bought 2 x 1Gb Corsair DDR2 800 modules from a dealer who uses Rectron as a supplier. After about a week I realized that something is wrong with my PC so I ran some tests and found out that the memory was broken.
I returned the ram to a dealer who then returned the ram to Rectron. Rectron then tested the memory and confirmed that it is in fact broken, but now they refuse to replace them with the same brand of memory. At first they said they will replace it and they have stock, but as more time goes by we realize that they have absolutely no idea what is going on in their stock system whatsoever. They keep on stalling; then it’s this, then it’s that and now finally after they tracked down the "stock" they realize that someone cannot count and that in fact there is no stock. The shelf is empty.
They want me to take standard transcend ram instead because they have no idea when they will get stock again. Naturally I refuse because Corsair ram is more expensive than Transcend that they want to replace it with.
What I want to know is this the kind of service that we can be expecting from one of the more "reputable" dealers of South Africa? Surely there must be systems in place that forces them to be able to replace broken stuff that they sell. Otherwise what is the point of a warranty after all? I am coming up to the 2 week marker here with no end in sight.
