Hi all - since I' m going to become a daddy in Aug - I need a bigger car, my 147's boot isn't really big. Manuevering the car seat in and out is no biggie...but I'm worried about the pram and luggage, as we travel alot to go see our family.

For R3000pm excl insurance...

What can I look at?

Take into consideration it will most probably be with a residual and if I get bonus this year with a 10% deposit, if...if I get a bonus.

I have a couple of these in mind...didn't work out the payments yet, but I'd like to consider them - obviously they must have at least less than 50/60 000km's on the clock

Alfa Romeo GT 3.2
05/06 Golf 5 GTi
Alfa Romeo 156 GTA
Ford Focus ST - maybe...

That's what I'm looking at - with a residual in tact...5 years.

Pls, don't hijack the thread talking about residual is bad, or the fact that I'm considering something outside of the Alfa stable...you all know I like the G5 GTi...just don't like the fact that it's so vollop.

Cheers dudes:whistle:

Mercedes A class. Ultimate mommy mobile.

Don't change your car. Work around it. Many millions of people get by just fine with nothing close to a 147. No need to change your car just because you have a kiddo.

If anything start cutting costs and saving. Kids are expensive.

Those aren't really R3k per month cars.. unless you have budgetted another R3k per month on parts and fuel. Baby is coming, get something newer with service/motorplan, you don't want any suprises in the next 5 years.

Yea, agreed, no need to change your car because you are having a baby. Save the extra money, you will need it. Your kid deserves the best your money can buy, not the best car your money can buy.

I remember a thread a few few weeks ago where everyone told him to change the car as it's 2 door ...

... I'd tend to agree :/

Anyway - out of those, I'd get the GTI or ST.

If you do buy, buy a sedan not a hatch.
Had an A3, boot was a good size for me.
But now with a baby coming, bought a C180k. Boot is huge as compared to a hatch, hope i can fit my golf clubs as well as baby stuff.

Also look around, bought my C180k for 235k, a year old and 45k mileage.

Yep - I know a mate has a 147 GTA with a ferrari car seat..but its heis weekend car!

I don't want issues in the next 5 years...Thus a low milleage GT or GTi is my closest bet... The GT nogal has a big boot, but shallow, I did not see the size of a GTi boot as all of them I've seen had sound in it...

I've seen 05/06 GTi's with 45000km's on for 170kneg - that means at least 160k...

My friends say I'm a sell out for even considering a G5GTi...

Look at the Audi A3 sportback, quite a nice drive.

Great deals at Nissan right now on Livinas - good family car that, at prime -2%.

Do you honestly think the OP will go for that? LOLZ

No I don't. But it does kinda expose the whole "I need a new car for my babby" thing as being mostly just an excuse to get a new car. Believe me, I know these tricks, being a great rationaliser myself.

all those cars are bound to give issues i think... most people with racer cars drive them like they are stolen... and in any car 3 years is good without any issue, but more than 3 years, wear and tear starts to take it's tall...

why not stay with your alfa and buy a toyota corolla... then you have all the space you need plus you get to keep the troublesome Alfa, toyota parts are cheap, you can do the services your self...

and is it really necessary to change cars just because a baby is coming?

...no DUDE Toyota has recall issues, lol!

I'm not going over 3k...as the wife will be out of work till Jan 2011...so its off my salary from Aug till then...and she doesn't like tight living, so I need cash available.

then just keep your car, maintain and save and live happily...

LMAO - yes it is indeed a great justifyer! honey, we need to buy a new car coz erm....err....the boot's too small!!!

not buying a new car coz of baby alone...simply have NO space - I'll keep the car untill we start questioning the space, then we know its time...lol...believe me, I can't understand guys who buy new cars just coz they get seed either!

So u've changed your mind hehe thats good. Like 1of the other dudes suggested, go 4 a sedan. With a hatch u always going to have space issues. I went from a hatch to a sedan.
