What car do you drive?

What car do you drive?
Honda PCX scooter
VW Polo for weekends
Volvo V50 T5 in for repairs

2) What was the purpose of its purchase?
Honda PCX - cheap in fuel , reliable and quick mode of transport to work and back - in use during the week
Polo - used to ferry kids, shopping and short trips
Volvo - used for long distance trips / holiday

3) What is your favourite thing about your current car?
Honda PCX - perfect for the commute to work and back round trip of 50kms per day , has a 6.2 lt fuel tank and that gets me between 250km and over 300kms on the tank if u ride conservatively - no such thing as Peak hour traffic when using the PCX

Polo 1.6 - good solid cars - mine has served me well with no issues experienced
Volvo 2.5T - smooth and very comfortable ride - has same engine as the Ford Focus ST so power is there if u need it.

4)What would you buy next and why?
Content with what i have currently as all 3 fit a specific purpose - except for the Volvo - being out of a motorplan gets very expensive when things go wrong....if money was not a problem i would go for a Toyota Prada 4x4 for weekend trips away

1) What car do you drive?

2) What was the purpose of its purchase?

3) What is your favourite thing about your current car?

1) What car do you drive? - 2008 VW Golf 5 GTI DSG

2) What was the purpose of its purchase? - It was the best 4-door sporty hatch with a big boot and a proper automatic gearbox. Family planning was the biggest decider on this one over other sportier options.

3) What is your favourite thing about your current car? - The gearbox and the heated seats.

4)What would you buy next and why? - Would definitely go more economical. I don't think I would buy something to replace this one but rather buy an additional smaller car for the school run that is lighter on juice. So as a replacement I would like an Evoque, Q3 or other smaller SUV. As a secondary car maybe something like a Honda Jazz, A1 or even an Up!.

All of that being said my wife drives this car every day and I only really use it on weekends. I ride a bike, like every sensible person should.

*****

1) What bike do you ride? - 2014 Triumph Street Triple R

2) What was the purpose of its purchase? - Did a Jap-I4 already, then an American V-2 so the British Triple seemed like a nice change. Mostly for commuting so opted for the smaller Street instead of the Speed which would offer less value and cost more in tyres and maintenance.

3) What is your favourite thing about your current car? - The noise.

4)What would you buy next and why? - I'm getting older and therefore I suffer a little bit with the ergonomics. I also want to tour a bit more so something that supports proper luggage. The list is changing constantly but new Ducati Multistrada S Touring is top of the list with the Aprilia Caponord and BMW S1000XR not far behind all pending test rides when the time to buy comes.

Dont know yet. Not looking to change anytime soon

I have a 2009 C200k Avantgarde. Last month I tried to start it and nothing happened. The dash lit up and the lights and radio worked but nothing happened when turning the key. It turns out that the Electronic Steering Lock failed. You know that "whirr" sound that happens when you put the key in the ignition? Well that's the steering lock disengaging. If the motor that drives steering lock fails the car refuses to start.

Merc replacement price: R16 000 (before labour). Had it done at an independent for R7400.
