What coffee machine? R10k budget

I have a Lattissima pro. Capsule Nespresso coffee. Machine cost about R6500 and the pods are not cheap either, about R8 per unit. Not sure how this would compare taste and cost wise to a bean to cup, but I'm really happy with the product.

It's push button so extremely convenient. Get a cup out in 40 seconds..
Lol daylight robbery not to mention the pods that are just polluting the earth even more since I doubt most people bother to recycle them. Double shot espresso is about 15 grams so a 1kg bag (at +-R180) will give you 66 cups at about R2.70 per cup. A long black at 10 grams will give you even more cups.

I want to buy a semi decent coffee machine. Budget around R10k.

I currently use a stove top Moka pot which cost me R700. Im happy with it, but the issue is that when I wake up I don't want to faff around for 10min trying to make a cup of coffee, so would like to automate this process.

I'm looking for a bean to cup machine. I don't drink cappuccinos, only Americano's, so frothing milk isn't a priority.

Thanks!
You can probably pick up quite a decent machine at Makro for that amount but you will also need look at getting a coffee grinder unless off course you buy ground coffee.

Whatever you do, I don't recommend those coffee machines that use capsules

Another option is this. 2 of my friends and I have the Saeco version (same machine different label). If you watch specials close enough, I've seen the price come down to R4500 at Makro.

My only gripe is the cleaning, otherwise it's a great machine. Mine is just over 3 years old now.

I have this one:

You can get it in silver for about. R1k cheaper too

When I got it I was coming from the same place you are, grinder and mocha pot. Actually come to think of it I have 5 mocha pots, a single group manual machine, and aeropress, a perculator and 2 bodums.
Its so simple to make pretty good coffee with the melitta that everything else sits forgotten in a cupboard until I go on business travel or camping in which case the aeropress or mocha pot goes with.

Features:
- Enjoy up to 5000 cups without descaling thanks to AquaClean
Is this true? Might save me a minute and some dough if it is. Philips brought Saeco back in the day.

I like my Nespresso Latisima +

The price of capsules is down to R65, making it affordable

Sure, you can't buy coffee beans - but thats what the Mokka is for. Nespresso for the week, Mokka for the weekend

I have a Miele counter top bean to cup machine that is now about 6 years old and that hasn't missed a beat.

Two years ago, I spent two weeks in Italy drinking the best espresso I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. It made me realise that I had not set up the espresso on my machine properly. A little bit of tweaking and reprogramming and I now have espressos rivaling those which I had in Italy using Woolies espresso beans or their Italian beans.

Prior to the Miele, I had a Saeco which also delivered great coffee.

Lucky, mine lasted 6 months, and I have been unable to find someone that can fix it.
Which one? Impossible, after sales service is everwhere. Warrantybis at least a year. Doesn't make sense.

I use my machine quite often, I think the last time I descaled was last year some time. If you use a filter in the water tank then you need to descale even less. I am not sure if the 5000 cups figure is accurate, I haven't been counting :D

Barista Express every time :)
One of the best value Manual machines with a grinder

I cant stand nespresso any more, my Latissima is gathering dust. and most coffee shops dissapoint me now lol.

I have an old Jura, bean to cup. Consistently awesome. Not the best. But still awesome.

The annual service is a bit costly.

My Siemens S60, circa 2004, packed up a few weeks ago. Replaced it with a Siemens EQ3 S500. With the S60, the wife and kids rarely had a Cappuccino or the like. And if they did, I had to make it.

Now they make their own. The cappuccino/Latte attachment is friggin awesome on this machine. And it makes decent espressos too.

The EQ3 is entry level, but that need not concern you. It is a good machine, and should be well within your budget.
