1-3.06ghz p4 with hyperthreading(old one)
2-Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz, 1600 MHz
please let me know as i got a box to mess with, but dont know which one to put in the box.:D

if its just to 'mess' than try both and draw your own conclusions . . .

sigh

If it was pentium D I would've said the P4, but since it isn't, I'm gonna say E2140.

I am sure the E2140 would beat the Pentium D. The Pentium D series was a let down, Only SLIGHTLY faster then their Pentium 4 counterparts

I tried them both on the same box and they both perform the same...agg ja.i TRIED THEM both in vista ultimate and windows 7 64 bit. There is no difference in the speed, just the dualcore works better in the need for speed undercover menu:D.

anyway the only real difference i see is in the temperature reading:D
1-3.06 temp is 43-50 idle and under stress 65-70
2-dual core 43 degrees.did not stress test yet.

Anyway i am taking your advice ppl,i will put the dual core in.

+1 but only if that board supports 1066fsb or higher by default.

And Gigabytes are known to dislike BSEL mods...

Give clockgen a try rather :D

And it'll definitely be better than an old 3.06ghz P4...power consumption, performance and everything. Try super PI...that P4 should give 1min+ while the the E2160 should be under a min
