What do you do during load shedding?

If my load shedding at home is from 6 - 8:30...we braai or make dinner on our gas hob. Sit outside on the stoep having drinks while kids play or swim. No hassles.
From 8pm till 10:30...put kids in bed at 8...do some chores using one or 2 of our amazing LED camping lights that light up a whole room or kitchen, when faced towards the ceiling.
Have a candlelight shower and a lekker pomp...then start up the TV etc with the inverter/battery and watch an episode or a movie.
Coffee made on the hob....

I feel nothing for loadshedding...not going to fuk up my party.

PS Copied my reply from similar thread ...

You're supposed to shower after the pomp.

^ Please share how well that LED lantern has worked for you ? I'm looking for a decent one that won't die after a few recharges
Those types are kuk and don't last...

I use these. Turn it on and put it face up on a cupboard or the extractor in the kitchen...you can read your newspaper.

Well I prefer not to be blinded by the lantern, this one works well enough for me to read but my eyes are good.

My folks have one a bit more like this:

Not sure if it's this exact model. It's a bit blinding though, very bright, and it's seen years worth of regular use.

I turn my hifi louder and blast the neighbours out. Big ass UPS runs my lounge

I had a nice hot bath to relax the muscles on Sunday, dragged Le Dogs through the tub as well,

Turn it on its back and point it to the ceiling to create more of an ambient lighting..

I muck about on my phone a bit, which is usually offline then, after which I just have a kip regardless of the time or go out for a drink.

Im sitting here in the dark and wondering what you guys do when Eksdom is load shedding in your area.
On your phones, laptops or ipads?

Thinking i should buy a Nintendo switch or someting to keep me busy, dont think i would as the switch cost a lot. Im more a playstation fan, i do have a ps4, and a ps vita just doesnt have the games i want to play.

How about a portable dvd player?

What is the must haves during load shedding? Besides torches, candles and matches. Any cool tech that keeps you entertained?
There are plenty of rechargeable LED lamps around. Even unrechargeable ones last for ages - I have the small ones (around three inches) in all cars and by the bed in both the UK and SA. Power outages are very rare in the UK, but we do get occasional trips in the meter board, where I keep another small LED. They cost about 20/30 ZAR in the UK.
The laptop battery keeps the laptop going, but the mains modem goes straight away. I suppose a USB might be a possibility,as we had in Uganda for everything! But in the UK, not really an issue. Read a book or the paper or a mag. Or go out. (We have light until gone 10pm in Summer.
Or meditate.
Or make babies if young enough!

Some in Game right now look promising. Wife on the way.
I have a Huawei ZTE R 226-Z wich can plug into the mains or a USB port in SA. It increased my speed phenomenally from 2mbps to around 30mbps - variable - within a week. Voda said I would get 8mbps. They also said they had a faster one.
BUT this week we have had the mobile networks go down for up to 12 hours. Cell C and last weekend and yesterday Voda too, for over 12 hours as far as I could tell. Around here CellC seems to be unreliable, and my wife uses it to open the gate to the complex. I always have two cell phones with me for that same reason.

I find it peaceful when power goes, suddenly people emerge from the complex and walk around.
Take kids outside to ride their bikes, when it gets darker fit headlamps to their bikes, they love it.
Make sure the beer is cold and have dop outside watching the kids have fun.

Q on the ups's how do you disable the annoying beeping?

i put prestik over my UPS's buzzer.
still hear it but it is very very faint.
I didnt want to kill it toally as the buzzer is also there as an alarm to alert you if something is wrong with UPS or batteries
