What do you do when...

I always fly solo. Whenever people ask me where my date is I tell them she's at home .... doing the dishes.
 
I had the opposite problem at our end of year function. We couldn't bring our partners and I don't really know anyone at the office - I have one of those sorta sitting in a corner not communicating with anyone jobs (which is why i'm on here so much :p) So I was a total loner. Didn't know who I should be hanging out with. Ended up getting matchmake-d to a table of IT guys because i looked so pathetic and alone heh

Go alone. It might be more awkward for you if you have to tag someone along you don't know. People will spot the miss-match.
Get drunk, let the alcohol do the talking and just tag along. You can worry about what you said the next morning..
 
Just go anyway. Good things often come out of these things. I've done this before and invariably found that I'm not the only one there, and had good relationships stemming from this. It's like the Lotto - you can't win it if you're not in it. Worst case, you can always just slip away at some point if its not going well, without having to wait for anyone.

There is this thing called the internet. People do all sorts of great things with it.

How about a website or Facebook group called 'Find ID a date' where girls offer to go with you? Start spreading it like a viral-email / spam type thing. It will probably make it onto CNN.

Our company is quite small, slipping away will be very difficult.

Ok ok ok, hold up matey.

I dunno how old you are, but I'm gonna give you some advice. Give you a personality make over and how to get chicks.

Go on torrents and download a book series by David DeAngelo, the main source of information being a book called Double Your Dating.

His stuff works, I'm a 23 year old dude, also fitted into the whole stereotypical IT thing. Until I read his books, bought myself a new wardrobe, changed my hair style, got a slick pair of frames for my spectacles. It takes a while to sort yourself out though, but once you've overcome your comfort zone, stepping into new boundries, you won't regret it. I was the biggest introvert you had ever met and deadly scared of females before I began reading his stuff.

I was a virgin up until the age of 22, after reading his books, well yeah, the rest is history as they say :rolleyes:
 
Okay, well here's a weird question then.
How young is too young?

I mean at 27, I'm not looking at school. What would you (assuming you not a paedo) take as too young?

Not much time left, then my suggestion would be a round of "speed dating" U will be hooked up in no time - if u dont try - u wont know :)
