What do you feed your dog?

Rice/pasta with either chicken or giblets or mince or pets mince spread out and alternating through the week with leftover veggies thrown in occasionally.

2 meals a day 8.00 am and 5 pm.
What does your pet mince look like? I got some from a butcher yesterday, it looks like mostly fat, brains and ears. With bones and hooves thrown in. I dunno why I expected it to look like human mince.

Got to shop around a little for pets mince - my local Spar does a fairly decent pets mince thats not all fat, whereas my local P&P's pets mince is terrible, although the fat is good for the dogs but not constantly and that is why i alternate it with the other things.

Also Woolies sometimes carries pets mince, which is pretty good and not to expensive.

Have moved both our Boston Terriers to Raw Gold (http://rawgold.co.za/)

They have honestly NEVER been happier. Their stools are fewer. Their farts don't smell as much as when we had them on Hills, Eukanuba or Acana. They get two servings a day controlled by their current weight. And the cost over a month is less that what we were paying for Acana.

Looks good. Prices?

We recently moved our 7 month old Boerboel pup from from Hills Science Healthy Development to Montego Karoo and it seems to be going OK.
It is a bit cheaper than Hills and protein % seems about the same.

Hills was R850 for 16kg and Montego is R650 for 20kg.

Having him on Hills for the first 7 months really agreed with him. He is a very trim and healthy 50kg already.
Will keep a close eye on his weight on the Montego.

R30 for 1 kg of their Raw Gold Minced Dog Food. A lot more than Pets Mince is at a butchery. But this stuff is brilliant. Both furbabys lick their bowls clean.
That sounded like a lot until I calculated how much I spend on dry food per kilo. But do they eat the same amount of raw as they would of kibble?

Like if a dog eats 150g kibble per day, will he eat 150g Raw Gold as well? More or less?

I would imagine that they would be eating less, by weight.

The quantity of Raw Gold is less (by volume) that what we were feeding with kibble. Bear in mind we were feeding Acana before and their RDA recommendations (by volume) are a lot less than Epol or Husky for example. They have a feeding calculator here: http://rawgold.co.za/raw-food-feeding-guide/#feeding

I emailed them yesterday morning after your initial post already - no reply. Guess business is good enough then to ignore prospective new clients.

Took them a day to get back to me. If they don't respond before COB - perhaps call. Your dogs will thank you for your patience.
