What do you feed your dog?

I switched to and would highly recommend Montego Karoo.
It costs more than the Montego Classic many people in here use but well worth it.

Looking at the reviews, it has just as much good stuff and scores just as high as Hills, Wuma etc which costs much more.

I started feeding Shelby (My 8-month-old German Shepard+labby mix) the Karoo puppy food and she loves it!

40kg jock from the co-op, works for me.
bobtail, bob martin, that green bag vita something, they will not eat.

For treats, dog biscuits.
Our staffie tends to chew everything, so i'll put peanut butter inside an empty yogurt tub. It keeps her busy for a while, and the hose survive another day.

Whatever is cheapest at the checkers. I usually cook pap with whatever leftovers are in the fridge and supplement with bobtail/checkers brand/whatever.

Noticed something weird about my Jack Russell this weekend.

Normally she eats olives, cucumber, lettuce, apple etc. and want more and more of it. But cold meat - she doesn't even want to lick or taste it, she just pulls her head to the side and gives me a WTF look.

Found it odd, since she eats everything else. The other one eats it no problems.

Anyone else ever experience this with their dog?

Am I wrong in thinking that dogs (drived from wolves after all) should be eating meat? That's what those big sharp teeth are for.

Each dog is slightly different...

My one bullie is relatively fussy and doesn't do rabbit food, the other bullie will devour pretty much anything put in front of her except carrots and mushrooms.

Huskey 8kg dry pellets... Meaty inside i think... its about R220 a bag, when not on special.

Do yourself a favour and move off the supermarket stuff, go for something like Ideal, Montego etc.. they're actually cheaper and better.

I get a 25kg pack of Montego for R350 (give or take).

Hahaha! Sounds familiar. I'm just very curious about what the cold meat contains that puts her off...

Oh, and carrots, she goes nuts for carrots.

Hmmmm... a 2 yr-old might go nuts for chocolate, but it doesn't mean it's good for him.

Speaking of orange, my dog refuses Niknaks unless I suck the flavouring off first..

Its quite possibly one of the chemicals they use if its processed, or the spice used to preserve it if its not processed.

Dafuq you on about? I didn't say I give her onions or coffee. Carrots. C-A-R-R-O-T-S.
We're discussing whether we should feed dogs the same thing as humans since their teeth and digestive systems are different.

Nothing wrong with carrots for dogs...

Dogs are naturally omnivores, they'll eat just about anything.

(Even chocolate, which really will kill them, so don't feed them that.)

Myth: DOGS ARE OMNIVORES.

This is false. Dogs are carnivores, not omnivores. Dogs ARE very adaptable, but just because they can survive on an omnivorous diet does not mean it is the best diet for them. The assumption that dogs are natural omnivores remains to be proven, whereas the truth about dogs being natural carnivores is very well-supported by the evidence available to us.
