What do you feed your dog?

I'm feeding my JR Propac, because it's one of the few brands I trust and occasionally treat her with Cesar wet food. I also sometimes cook bones for her and when I can't stand the begging, I share some of my food.

I put them on the no name brand from PicknPay since it is quite cheap.

The vet said that they suffer from depression so I put some nuzac (prozac generic) in their food sometimes.

I think it helps.

I have a male Great Dane cross Boerbul and a female Boerbul cross Ridgeback. These two eat me out of house and home. I vary their diet no specific brand but do supplement with vitamins and minerals.
The female enjoys plants the most. And yes Bwana he can reach anything with his GD height and break anything with his BB strength.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention mine also loves avos, lemons - she used to get the ones that fell off the trees in my old place and munch away-, raw butternut, carrots, apples, grapes. Anything as long as it's not lettuce, cabbage or tomatoes.

Grape and raisin (dried grapes) toxicity is well documented in dogs. Although the exact substance that causes the toxic reaction is not yet known, dogs should not eat grapes and raisins because even small amounts can prove to be fatally toxic for a dog.

Dogs of any age, breed, or gender may be affected. Grapes and raisins are bad for dogs because one of the most serious complications of grape/raisin toxicity is acute (sudden) kidney failure with lack of urine production (anuria). However, kidney failure is not seen in all dogs after ingestion of grapes or raisins, and again, the reason why some dogs are affected excessively while others are not is still being studied.

The Seeds
Apple seeds contain amygdlin, a form of cyanide, which is very poisonous to every living thing. Cyanide prevents the blood from carrying oxygen throughout the body.

If the dog swallows a few seeds, the body will detoxify itself. Actually, the dog must ingest large quantities of apple seeds to do major damage. Also, the cyanide is within the seed covering, and if the covering isn’t broken, it will pass through the dog’s system intact. Sort of a no harm, no foul situation.

So, if you’re going to give your dog apples, core the apples. Then, cut them into bite-size pieces and feed the dog this way. This may seem overly cautious, but why take the chance.

I feed my pitbulls MyBB members who have over 5000 posts.

Fortunately I've never fed her whole apples or grapes. I generally give her half or a quarter apple which I've already cored. I usually only buy seedless grapes, but if I do buy the seeded ones, I take the pips out first.

As of lately I am spoiling my dogs as they refuse to eat pedigree , bob martin , bob tail & montego. Out of all the dog food brands they prefer puppy food.. I had like 4 KG x 20 bags all gone in a space of 2 weeks

I even managed to get of hold of the supplier and told them I would buy 200 bags. It's a scarce product to come by.

They only like it because it is softer. I would say call a vet and check if it is fine to feed adult dogs puppy food for so long as i don't think it will have enough nutrients etc for adult dogs.

Actually it's got too much. Puppy food contains more calories, fat, protein, minerals, etc - iow stuff that a growing dog needs.

At what age do you switch them over from puppy food to adult dog food?

I have a medium sized mixed breed about 9 months old.

Thanks for clearing that up. I had a feeling I might have mixed it up.
