What do you spend on average?

Google found me BlinQMobile for cheap prepaid cell phone calls in South Africa Looks more like a business phone savings than personal..

I've been on talk 240 Vodacom and stay with in the contract 90% of the time..
and I don't send SMS's unless I have to SMS is the most expensive form of data communication there is..

I've been spending roughly R200, but this month was hectic, so im expecting about R500...

Sheesh, Im a big spender! Been averaging R1.1k over the past year eek eek!!! Ya, used to have a ProCall 120 and ProCall 220 (one is for my sister). A bulk of my airtime goes to SMS' and Data, these two alone avarage R300-R400 per month + subscription and my sister's ProCall 120.

Currently my sister is on MyCall100 (huge relief) and as of the 1st of June I will go on AnyTime 200 (another relief). But I need to subscribe to 5 DataBundles (10mb each) - Im sure I can add them. (100mb is a lot and expensive). I buy a 200 sms bundle per month (Loyalty Points).

I seriously need to cut down here. I wish I can just use my work cell for sms'ing and browsing - but I really hate carrying and maintaing two phones at once. The phone is always in my bag - calls are diverted after ringing for 10sec.

yeah meally, you shouldn't spend so much, 5 x 10mb bundles is insane!

About R400 total. Package includes R300 airtime, 50 sms and a free Nokia N82 and Nokia 5800xm. Not a bad deal at all.

Thanks for the feedback chaps - I am surprised to see quite a few of you not spending an arm and leg on your phone bill. I guess I am really trying to avoid that.
But hell, some spend more than an arm and a leg! Could believe what I saw.

I guess pay as go really can cut costs to a point. You can still use your phone when you need it and not really have to be paying R300+ a month.

I am torn between getting a contract and a nice phone, or stick with payg and save a couple of rond. Tough call. I have had a contract before and R500 a month was a bit hectic.
My meaning is you still score the phone when you have a contract. Just dont choose a expensive contract just to get a nice phone. I'm on a mycall100 for 2 years now, and managed to get my total billing this month on R56, incl the contract price, which is R29 p/m.

Whe I was on prepaid, I managed to get it to R60 per month. Now, I get a free phone, and my bill is still more or less the same. The main thing is you must be able to control yourself.

R315 on a Topup 315, got a Nokia N82 with it (had to pay R2000) - upgrading next year January.
