got offered a 2009 m3 demo with 950 km on the clock has dct gearbox, sunroof, bluetooth, 19 inch rims and tyres, 2 door - price = R 820 000.00
this is an individual option car.... just want to know if you think it is a good buy. i know a new m3 costs R 762000 .00 + extras but just making a comparioson.

thanks

You could spend another the other bit of money on another car , maybe a old m3!

thats too much ... i could get an m-dynamic mdct with logic 7 and the wheels, PDC and usb for around R840k ... basically almost dealer billing ... there is a white one 2009 in the autotrader with low kms for R789k, m-dct with m-dynamic ... the only thing individual on an M3 are the paint options, what paint colour does it have? as i almost ordered a moonstone colour, so i know about individual on an M3 which means just the paint ...

Id say you should pay R700k for the car ... (because my friend has bought one like this jerez black for that price, he had dct, the wheels, cf roof, usb, logic 7 , font/rear pdc and bt, 5000km, trust me 1000kms and 5000km not a big difference)

EDIT: and 2010 is around the corner, they bound do do some cosmetic upgrades to the car

the problem is finding a clean one these days ... too many a-holes buying them because its now cheap! (relatively speaking of course) ... no comparison between the new one and the E46 .... the E92 is just so much more of an accomplished car ...

Oh my Lord, I am now getting seriously depressed again...

NOTE TO SELF: Do not open any new thread started by adamr!

Is this to now replace the ageing GT3 or the Polo/Mito/Fiat

Sorry...knowing that you sell your cars when they need a new tank of petrol, I automatically thought you had started the thread...:p

ja i could feel the price is a bit to much but my other problem is that i will have to trade my 2009 335i so mayb thats why they hiked the price, but on the other hand there is a 2008 m6 convertible with 7000kms on the clock for R 800 000.00

Now add this answer to the thread on why manufacturers don't drop their prices, and we have an interesting little story...

A R1.3M car for R800k ... pity the guy who most prob took a R600k knock on a car with just 7000km .... (assuming the dealer got he car at R700k)

My blood cousin has a 2008 BMW M5 that he paid R1.2M for (loaded with extras) ... and he is looking at R800k, the dealer offered him R580k ...

I reckon an M6 convertible with 7000km is a better buy than an M3 at the same price point ... i dont think anything should be wrong with the car BUT dont trust what they say and have it checked out by someone who knows about cars ... these big cars are taking heavy knocks price wise, what ive seen

Aston Martin DBS for R2.7M, this is a R3.6M car
Porsche GT2 for R2M, a R2.8M car

so they are taking a knock

Also something that might interest you is Woodmead Auto has a black C63 2009 model with 15000km and im told that car can be had for R680k

seems like a fantastic prive for the c63 but to be honest i always loved the look of the m6 but didnt want to spend as much as 1.3m but if i compare to the m3 thats a better buy. what i want to know is if the m6 is 800k now would i be able to get rid of it in say mayb 2 years will i be able to settle

if you keep that mileage low, under 40000km id reckon you'd get R600k for it in two years time ... maybe even less ... R550k, because a new shape will be launched by then and that will hurt resale even further ...

the more i think of it, you will lose the same money on both cars in two years time ... maybe a little more on the M6 ...

EDIT: it a convertible so it more valuable in two years then i estimated ... R600k at a minimum id say

having said that about an M6, id still take an M3, miss my car ... :) ... still feel its the best fromt he current M models ... the right spec is DCT, PDC, Logic 7, 19"s, CF roof with white space grey or silverstone

If it was me id look for an M3 at the right price ...
