I also see that you no longer get the MCSE course.
Can you do MCITCP without having MCSE ?

Well there are several MCITP qualifications so I really think it depends on which one you're talking about having but I presume you mean Enterprise Admin? (Which is the MCSE equivalent)

Haven't entered into the market myself yet so I can't vouch for expected salaries buuuuut I can tell you that you don't need an MCSE to do any of the MCITP qualifications. It just means a few more exams to complete it (only really 2 exams are skipped if you have mcse already)

Dusk u still get MCSE 2003 exams...

And if you currently have your MCSA 2003 u can do 1 upgrade exam to qualify for 2008 equilivent

And if you have a MCSE 2003 (7 exams passed) you can write 2xUpgrade exams to get 2008 certified.

I would recommend rather do the 6xExams for MCITP Enterprise Admin.. you will def learn some new things..

And aswell you asked about salary.. it depends on experience.. If you have worked in a similiar role SME or Enterprise.. 5Years + or so you can get a good package. The certification on its own.. with no experience still doesn't resolve Real Life server enviroment issues you might experience in which ever enviroment you may work ;)

Hope it helps

Yes i havent got MCSE , and if what you say is true , i dont see the point in paying for and doing two courses if i can do it all and be current doing one course , or am i missing something ?

Judging by the price thats the exam only , i need to take the course as well get the study material first before writing the exam :p
How much is the course + material on average ?

What is the starting salary i can expect once im done with this course?

A course is around R1000 - R1500 per day, i.e. 4 day course is around R5000. Rather buy the books yourself, set up a lab at home, and work through the books in your own time. You will learn more than if you just attend a course; and building labs should be a part of studying anyway - even if you do attend a course.

WRT to salary, there will probably be no big increase in salary because you have a certification. Rather try to improve your work experience by finding a new job with more responsibility, different products and support methods, and a higher level of support.

+1

Just go and look on some of the job websites and you will see what you can earn with the qualification and experience. Some employers do not even know about MCITP.

I did most of my qualifications by having a lab at home and just getting the books. When I applied for jobs you should see the confusion with some of the recruiters, they just do not understand that you can have a qualification without attending a course.

MS Press Books,Sybex and VMware.. make studying much more fun then wasting money on 3-5 days course.. and you will understand what u studying by practicse.. in a course they just try to summarise everything and voila expect you to have full understanding of everything.

Yea getting 12k pm at the moment with about a year's worth of xp in IT, < MCSE 2003. Oh god, never mind I said this, now everyone is going to do their MCSEs again and flood the market.

Apparently there was a stage *2001?* where MCSEs were flooding the market? Anyone remember this?
