I never needed to take a broken iDevice in to the iStore, so just wondering.
What does the SA iStore do with a broken device? My friends iPhone 5s died earlier today, connecting it to his computer does nothing, the computer doesn't even pick it up. Tomorrow we are taking it in to a iStore, it's a demo which he baught and it's still under warranty, do they generally take a device like this in for investigation and repair, or do they simply swop it out like a Apple store in America would?

They just give you a new one but I think they still have to send it in to be tested. They are never fixed. The replacements are new not refurbished. I actually had the same exact issue with my 5s a while ago and it took about a week for them to replace it. Not sure if the demo ones are replaced with new or refurbished ones though as mince was bought new.
