As the title says.... Right now, just using South African websites, calculate the cost of your rig. My wife always gives me hell about how I pawn of my old "cr@p" to her for her rig. So I sat down last night and showed her whats what... yes, I have a couple of bigger 'n better things, but her rig is pretty decent!

(There are a couple of old parts I cant find any more, so a bit of thumbsucking and old prices were used)

Hers:

Mine (and frankly the only PC in my house at the moment)

E6400
Asus Commando board
2 gigs of OCZ DDR2 800Mhz Cas4 RAM
1 x 250gig hard drive
1 x DVD writer.
Aopen 500w PSU
1 x 24 inch Samsung LCD monitor.
1 speaker
An elcheapo mouse and keyboard.

Most of my stuff I can't even find the prices for anymore. This used to be my gaming rig and its around 5 or 6 years old and still rock solid. Since I don't game anymore (not by choice, got married and now have two rascals who demand my attention 24/7) this machine I use to surf the net mostly

Btw OP, you and your wife are real geeks! Almost 50k between the two of you for your PC's

Mine costed somewhere between 30k & 40k. And took like 6 months to save up for & put together

Must be said that this is continuous, and timely upgrading, never all at once! I have had the two CPU's & Mobo's since Sandy Bridge was released.

In the last year I have had the Vertx 3 then later the Vertex 4, Went from a GTX 280 to HD 6870 to the GTX 670. Ram went from OCZ 2 X 2gb to 2 X 4gb Vengeance. I blew my original Mobo (twice) it was an Asus P8P67 Pro :( I used to have a Coolermaster V8 CPU cooler in my Q6600 rig, but did not have LGA1555 brackets for it, so I got the V6GT, then gave that to the wife and got the Antec Khuler.... So this is an ongoing thing ;)

As for sound, I tried so many 5.1 headsets, USB type with own audio chipsets, to onboard 5.1 types. Eventually I fell in love with the Asus Xonar Xense and had to get it. Love it beeg time. Clarity galore!

I live on my PC ... so geek... maybe! I dunno how much all my "tech" toys are worth nowdays!
