What Does Your Rig Cost

JimmyZ ... impressive!
Sight & Peanut also nice rigs...

If I had only one Rig to keep up, I probably would get a gtx 690, much better mobo, and gooi some mean 2000mhz+ ram!

I forgot to mention my 5yr Old son has an i3, with some lower spec equipment, same 24" Sammy as the wifes 2nd LCD, but enough to play Disney games like Cars, Mickey Mouse etc ... and yes ... all the freaking angry birds!

Other toys include:

Old PS2 (god knows why I still have that?!?)
Wife wanted a Wii (I buckled, what a waste of money)
Zotac Mini Mag in my bedroom
Medi8er in the lounge
gigabit wired network throughout my house (1 X gigabit ADSL router, 2 X gigabit switches)
1 X Ready NAS File Server (only one 2TB HDD)
2 X i3 laptops (identical models, one for me, one for the wife) Mine is running a 256gb OCZ vertex 3, both have 4 gig ram.
A Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Mine & Rooted & ROM'd)
We both have Samsung Galaxy Notes (Mine Rooted & ROM'd)
"The New" 32gb iPad (Wifes ... lotsa Android vs iOs fights!) - She wont let me near it ;)

God I'm a tech toy freak (slut)! (not including LCD /LED TVs / HiFi's or DSTV setup)

It is just amazing to see how much cheaper you can get a PC with the same/better performance than mine for at this moment, but some things didn't really get that much cheaper though:
PSU's, cases & screens (similar screen now costs R12k instead of R7.5k like I paid)

You want prices for the components now, or when we bought them? Because there's a HUGE difference in RAM prices for example, it's less than half now of what I paid for it. Conversely, CPU's are more expensive now than when I bought (April last year). Not to mention hard drives with the crazy expensive "flood effect" still lingering.

TJ99:
I posted the prices that I paid for my components in the middle of 2010.

I bought many stuff 2nd-hand, because at that stage many components were ridiculously expensive, like the i7 9xx CPU's were like R5k !

In terms of value for money, only the CPU's, GPU's and SSD's improved over the past 2 years.

Well, as I said, CPU's have actually gone up in price since I bought mine (Sandy Bridge i7-2600k). I bought mine for R 3 015 in March last year and they're almost R3 500 now.

Anyway, here's my stuff for my desktop. Pretty damn shocking actually, especially if you consider that some components have been replaced already:

CPU Core i7-2600k 3000
Cooler Cooler Master Hyper TX3 250
Motherboard Asus P8P67 Evo 2371
RAM Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4GB 1173
Storage 1TB 800
500GB 800
OCZ Vertex 2 60GB 1360
Graphics: MSI Radeon HD 6870 (x2) 3200
PSU: Corsair AX850 1800
Case Cooler Master HAF 932 1500
Monitors Samsung LA32D550 3000
Samsung BX2450 2500
Sound card: Asus Xonar Xense 2200
Keyboard Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 1100
Mouse Cyborg R.A.T 7 800
DVD Writer Samsung 300
LG 250
Mouse bungee/USB Hub: Roccat Apuri 200
Game controller Logitech Chillstream 400
Logitech Driving Force GT 1300
Speakers: Logitech X-530 800

Total: 29104

Doesn't include stuff I use with my PC and other devices, like my headphones, external drives etc... eish.

TJ99, I used prices that I could find online, not what I originally paid. Some stuff was so old I guestimated what they are worth if i Sold them second hand...

Oh, well I did what Pada did, used prices I paid. But it's still mostly the same now, except the CPU would be R500 more and the RAM about R500 less so it balances out..

Edit: If you sold your stuff 2nd hand it would be worth about 20-50% of what you paid new, as a rule of thumb. PC stuff loses value so fast it makes cars look like a good investment.

Mine is in flux atm and I'm not sure what it'll be when the dust settles. Something like this though hopefully:

i5 2400
Intel Cold Lake board
2x4gb 1600 G.Skill Sniper
Hyper 212+
CM Haf 912 case
Corsair TX650
2tb + (1tb tbd) hdd
128gb SSD (tbd)
Ancient mech kb IBM style kb/Roccat Arvo, rubbish Prestigio gaming mouse
22" Dell FhD LED + 24" Acer screens
GTX560ti (tbd)

I've no clue of the value but that's the specs more or less.

Is that the 30 inch screen you mention? Maybe its just me, but that looks a tad bit small for 30 inches. Well, either that or you have a huge case and table :D

I wish I could get a decently priced 27"+ LED monitor (does not need to be 3D), but I would like higher than 1920X1080 res!

There was a thread about it somewhere here.... let me see if I can find it.

Someone on some forum in SA got one imported and reviewed it.... ugh I'm struggling to think. Perhaps it was on Carbonite?
