One of my closes female friends i know for many years had a failed suicide attempt:confused:.She was never the type for this a strong willed women with 2 children and married and a good sense of wisdom,i just cant understand why she did this.If it was not for her husband who found her all bloated up from 60 capsules this is what the doctor said that got pumped out.

My gawd 2 boxes of tablets how can a strong willed women be driven to this. She is in hospital now and when i visited her i could not stop the tears as i love her so much.

Can we as human beings hbandave a sudden relapse of negative and emotional thoughts no matter how strong willed we are. This is a shock for everyone that i know and i have little faith in the human physic(i think thats the right saying):D
This is truly an eye opener when we down on our low do we seed that plant for ending our lives,I have been low many times more than often and always thought how can one slit your wrists it must be eina:wtf: the pain must be undesirable.

It takes guts and no emotioin to accomplish such feats.we all have our closets but i wonder if her husband drove her to this(he is my long term friend to:erm:

Do we have a relationship Councillor from cape town here on the forum, can you elaborate on this as i am confused:sick:

A specific type of personality is very good at putting up a strong front...until it collapses suddenly & spectacularly.

A friend also unexpectedly committed suicide...didn't see it coming at all. Sucks :(

>>can you elaborate on this as i am confused

Its not your place to "fix" this...just be supportive and encouraging.

PM gdiza..he'll know someone. As I said I'd be wary of interfering directly though....rolling in a relationship counselor based on a suspected issue with the husband seems like you're overstepping your boundaries here by 200%.

What drives one to suicide? More than anything else, I'd say, pain. Pain that those who say they would never ever contemplate suicide, cannot even begin to comprehend.

what I don't understand...is how people fail at committing suicide.
If you're going to do this, the least expected of you is to research your method ffs

More likely depression and despair. Although it could be semantics in that emotional pain caused such.

Besides your putrid attempt at trolling; many times this kind of thing can be a call for help. Even if subconsciously.

EDIT: If I send you an offensive pm; will you report me? :)

Anger or Anguish.

I'm no specialist on the topic but I can share some family insight. When my youngest cousin was born my Aunt fell into very deep and serious depression, needless to say my grandparents and parents were worried beyond belief, if I remember correctly the only reason she didn't commit suicide is because she couldn't muster up the energy to go get a knife or a gun. My Uncle did a good job making sure she couldn't easily get a hold of anything potentially lethal. Today she is happy and bubbly after undergoing treatment. (I think for depression)

A second, sadly successful suicide attempt was regarding a close family friend, he got leukemia twice and it had pretty much ravaged his body to the point he'd have seizures from watching TV. Eventually he got so frustrated from not being able to do anything constructive he shot himself point blank to the temple with a low caliber hand gun. The strange thing is that whenever I talked to him he seemed happy. I even remember the first time I shot a rifle, he taught me along with his son at a family farm when we were very young. The guns were locked in a safe when the family noticed his change in attitude but somehow he still managed to get it. Apparently his father found him bleeding from the head at the bottom of his garden, it was a low caliber hand gun from what I remember. My father had to go to the Hospital to ID the body, not a pleasant experience.

The third instance I remember, was a future employee of my father. We only found out he committed suicide after getting a reply to an email of acceptance that the guy got into an argument with his girlfriend the previous night, went to the bathroom and shot himself with a very low caliber handgun, the shot didn't initially kill him, it turned out the girlfriend heard the bang, went to see what happened and he was just holding the side of his head, he refused to go to the hospital and died in his sleep at home later that night. again this was a long time ago - I don't even know a name

Point is it can be for may reasons, even a spontaneous one - none are ever nice to hear. If she's close to you speak to her privately and get to the bottom of it, maybe it was a spontaneous thing like the 3rd guy or maybe she's actually depressed

I don't want to interfere in there relationship but they were on the verge of divorce and fixed it,really they did all happy chappie etc.I think maybe she had no way out as she wanted out long time ago and frustration got the better of her.I will ask her soon why.

I deserve to know as i am one of her closest friends, how could she deceive me like this.We were going to do it together:Dfk thats a sick joke:o
I will show her this thread on friday, and maybe she can post what is in a mind of a Harakir or maybe not.

Harakir?

Suicide is probably the most selfish thing you can ever do...

Amazing how people are still denied the right to end their own suffering with dignity even in the 21st century

What drives one to suicide? A 1966 Thunderbird convertible of course.

I can see why people are against it, knowing the guy I would have never wanted him to die, but taking a step back and actually looking at how much he suffered, he should have been given the choice, it would have devastated his family, but I think ultimately it would have been better than enduring the pain, and lastly leaving his family with the questions and grief associated with a suicide

No, you deserve absolutely nothing.

She doesn't owe you anything and I'm quite certain she didn't deceive you either, not consciously at least.

Making her feel guilty for your own selfish needs doesn't help either.

I can only speak from my own experience here.
Sometimes people can look as strong as hell to the outside world but nobody really knows what goes on in somebody else's head.
Sometimes life just becomes unbearable and in that state of mind.
You can see no options and mental pain starts to manifest physically.
Have you every heard of a broken heart?
Well it's possible to feel like it physically broken.

Also the straw that breaks the camel's back is true.
Sometimes you handle life as best you can but the hits keep coming.
And you keep fighting the good fight and pretending everything's ok.
Then something happens and you break.
You try to hide it but after a while death, and end to all the pain and suffering feels like a great relief.

As far as I know this is depression because of chemical imbalance in the brain.
A good psychologist/psychiatrist will be able to help.

Special note to the OP:
Please don't be obtrusive with questions and reasons why. In my opinion that is the worst you can do.
There is already shame and humiliation associated with attempted suicide.
Just be there. Be comforting and non judgemental.
She will share what she is comfortable with sharing.

Hope your friend gets the help she needs and life becomes better for her.
Best wishes.
