I have a 10 gig local account with free axcess to the saix news server for
R 190.00 pm, I see that I can get a 30 gig account with axcess to the IS server for 130 pm, is the difference between the two so huge it warrents paying more for less??

The saix 10g bandwidth for R190 gets you full speed with uncached stuff on the saix server. so if you have 4meg line, itll go at 400Kbps.

Is bandwidth 30g banwidth for R130 gets you full speed only on cached stuff (that which has been downloaded in the last 3 days or so). That which is uncached has a limit of roughly 10Kbps or less.

What this means essentially is that a uncached file on saix will take 1 hour (4meg line) instead of 40 hours (4meg line). The extra speed to some, makes it worth it.

There is hope that telkom will be dropping the price of saix local bandwidth in november. It may be a long shot, but perhaps telkom will finally comply with regulations and make it free.

We can only hope.
