good day.. Happy new year a well... Just wnt to ask what gpu should i get.. Cause i recently looked at a gpu.. the 6870... But realising that the 6870 is too expensive, i needed another gpu.. I looked at the 5770, but i heard some people say that it isnt all that great.. So.. Yeah.. Does anyone have any other cards that they could recommend pricing around 1 to 1.5 grand and is good price

.. Thx

I know VTX3D is still a relatively new brand, but I bought myself one 3 months ago, and let my tell you, it performs very well, stays cool end it's very quiet. They use an OEM version of the card, meaning AMD manufactures the card and they only put their own fan on it. So when you buy a Gigabyte/Asus/Sapphire etc. reference card, you're being ripped off

Have a look at the VTX3D and Gainward cards at Wootware, specifically the HD 6850 and GTX 460 768MB cards that are going for R1750 and R1400 respectively IIRC.

6850. Best value in a long time. I can definitely recommend the Sapphire Vapor-X edition - it's slightly OCed with a more visually-pleasing cooler, and many accessories are included.

I realised that the sapphire version is cheaper than the other ones.. but I don't see what thew difference is.. Like they differ about like 100-200..

Anyway, was just asking lol..

If you have to go for the 5770, just make sure you get one from a good manufacturer. XFX or Asus I recommend. Not HIS or the cheaper ones.

Sapphire warranty is 2 years. Asus, Gigabyte are 3 year. Most brands are 1/2/3yr warranty.

I have the asus 5770 and I play ghost warrior on basically full graphics and I don't have a problem when playing, I even play left 4 dead 2 on full graphics and I enjoy every second of it.

mm.. I see.. but not sure lol.. a 5770.. apparently it's on it's way out?

How would the GTX 460 1GB weigh-in? It looks like you can pick one up for under R2000 from Club and Inno3D.

It's on par with the 6850. Much of a muchness I would say. Seems to do slightly better at lower res, where the 6850 seems slightly better at higher res. I'd go for what ever's cheaper, and which ever company you prefer.
