what gpu to get??

Thanks PostmanPot, I'm having a very good look at GPU's as well to go with my new Sandy Bridge build. I've been thinking of going with the GTX 460 1GB in SLI. Another thing to maybe keep in mind with the 6850 vs the GTX 460 is the Eyefinity vs the Nvidia 3D (although both are a bit gimmicky) ... How is Club and Inno3D as manufacturers when it comes to quality?

I prefer single card set ups - no scaling issues, they use less power (so you can buy a cheaper PSU or put the saving towards a higher end single card), create less heat as well as less noise.

Can't really comment on the quality of those brands, they're all about on par IMO, but they're certainly not regarded as the "top tier brands" such as Asus and Gigabyte who provide 3 year warranties and good after-sales service. Check out the warranty, my guess is that it's 2 year.

Both brands are fine, they normally use stock reference cards with little modifications to keep pricing down, also most of the time the GPU is the part you replace more often then not so warranties shouldn't be the driving force behind buying a specific brand, especially when the pricing is R300 more in some circumstances. If you can get the 6870 it is a pretty amazing card, I picked one up for R2600 last month and wow has it absolutely slaughtered my 4870 it replaced, I did a lot of research into either getting the 6850 or the 6870 before settling on the 6870.
Also remember SLI isn't going to give you a 100% scaling on your system yet, so you might only get 150% over the norm, but I have heard 460s in SLI outperform a single 480, the 5770 is a decent card but it doesn't compete with the 6850.

The GTX 460 1GB is on par with the HD 6850 at high resolutions, but you can overclock it so easily with about 10% or if it has a decent cooler you can get like 20% overclock.
The MSI GTX 460 Hawk 1GB can get about 33% OC, which would put it above the GTX 470. You can get the GTX 460 Hawk 1GB at WootWare for like R2500, but they're only opening the tomorrow.

I have 2x MSI GTX 460 Cyclone 1GB and I've managed to overclock them to like 878 Core/4460 Mem in SLI and the temperatures was below 70'C with the fan profiles up, and the performance is really incredible. I got my cards for R2250 each.
So if you can get a GTX 580 for R4500, then go for it by all means.

The GTX 570 is also pretty impressive. Someone recently brought one back from the US for like R2400, instead of the R3700 that you'll pay for it here.

Or for the same price you could just get the GTX 470 and then over clock that.

Its a vicious circle :/
