I've got my adsl router with my webafrica details on it but I also have a PPPoe connection for telkom. When i want to go international, I just click on the pppoe connection and connect.

Now what impact does this have on the webafrica account on the router if any? Are there any problems with me doing it this way?

I tried to get route sentry working but I gave up after I had to re-install xp last week.

What router do you have? Have you created two connections? Or do you just change the username and password details?

I've got the mega100wr and only 1 pppoe connection for telkom and on the router I've got my webafrica details loaded in the router. When i connect up to telkom it then shows 2 network Icons in the sys tray and both light up at the same time.

Do you want it to route local through WA and international through Telkom? Both of them lighting up at the same time doesn't sound good, won't that mean it's eating bandwidth from both accounts?

Your computer will push all outbound traffic to the "dial-up" PPPoE and nothing will go through the router PPPoE connection. Once you disconnect the dial-up account you computer will revert back to the gateway (router connection).

There are no problems doing it this way, I do it and the only problem I encountered was I ran in reverse. I have my int account on my router and my local only as a dial up. I use it to whore while I am at work. If the connection drops it won't re-establish a connection because as soon as it drops the other connection kicks in and the auto re-connect does not initiate.

yeah that's pretty much it. I only use the pppoe telkom conn to play games and then when I'm done I disconnect that conn and resume my downloads and then the router (local details) takes over...

Sorry to jack this thread but I'm still learning the ins and outs of networking and I'd like to know if it's possible to get RouteSentry to work having one dialup PPPoE (say the local only account) and the international accounts details stored on the router?

If this is possible, are there any advantages using RouteSentry with 1 dialup and the other handled by the router over the normal 2 dialup connections?

I'm not sure if its possible, don't think so. the only advantage I could see is that the other PC's on the network could access the account in the router without using RouteSentry, PPPOE etc.

Thanks because I'm having a slight problem with RouteSentry, don't really know how to explain it though.

It's almost as if, if I leave torrents running on the local account or if both connections are idle for a while and I decide to browse then it's almost as if RS 'forgets' how to route the traffic. e.g. myadsl will just say 'connecting' or 'waiting' and nothing will happens. Pressing the 'Set up Routes now' button in RouteSentry fixes it, worst case is a dis/reconnect fixes it.

It gets annoying after a while. That's why I can't wait for Novemver to come so we don't have to bother with RS anymore (no offense to ant1body ;)).
