I am at the end of a 24 month contract. What happens if I don't explicitly cancel it with Cellc? Does it go to month to month or prepaid?

Month to month. you have to call them before hand and tell them whether you want to cancel the number or switch to prepaid.

Hi pkid

It will indeed go on a month to month basis until such time we receive notification from you.

Should you require assistance regarding this, please PM your details.

It will be on month to month.

Take note that some contracts get a special discount for the 24 months. Once the 24 months lapse these discounts fall away and you pay month to month for the contract which could end up being more that what you usually pay if you had like a sim only contract or a data sim only contract.

Further, promotional items like a larger data bundle fall away after the initial 24 months are up as well. Case in point: I was on the S4 deal which included 1GB monthly data. In month 25 the data went down to the standard 200mb for Straight Up 200. Didn't bother me because A) I could never use anywhere near the 1GB due to the cruddy network and B) month 25 was my notice month before converting to prepaid.

Something to keep in mind though if you plan to stay month to month with them.

Indeed. When I had a 2GB data contract with modem with them for R99 per month the contract expired and on month 25 I lost my extra 3GB nite data and the price jumped to over R200. When I queried why it was so high they said that all discounts and stuff like that fall away and you pay the base rate for the data unless you renew to continue paying the low rate.

I just cancelled on the spot because I never could use the data for the second half of the contract due to the network degrading so much that the free dialup minutes I got with Telkom closer was a better option.

One more question Cellc. I am on S4 contract , 1GB per month at R400 with 100 Min. What happens in month 25 then?

Month to Month costing R100/pm with 100 min and 100mb data? or does the R400 continue? It should not as there is no handset fee after month 24!

Thanks

Did you ever get an answer on this? I'm also on the S4 contract, with 1gig at R400 and it expires next month.

You're going to go down to 100mb on Straight Up 100 or 200mb on SU 200. Been there just before I left their shi$$y network.

My contract was supposed to end 29 July.
I assumed that i would then be put on a 100mb on Straight Up 100 or 200mb on SU 200.

And I noticed i didnt get my usual data allocation (1GB) so assumed thi was the case.

Yet they deducted the R411 again last night? ..im confused.

What were you originally signed up for?

Yeah, but then the device fee also falls away, so you still come out ahead.

Depends on the billing cycle, if it's postpaid then normally this is the final deduction for the last month.

how can i find out when my contract expire ?

How can I stop Cell-C from contacting me almost every day to upgrade on my contract. I'm not going to. I'm leaving SA at beginning of next year
