What happens when you dont have LTE-A coverage

As the title states, what happens when you have LTE-A but you dont have coverage, does it jump over to 3G or do you just have a dead connection?

Jumps to 3g or edge depending on what is available.

With Telkom it drops but the annoying thing is , if you have a mixed area, it may drop to the stronger signal ( ie: 3g stronger than 4g ) which makes sense just even low signal 4g is faster than full signal 3g, so I set my router to force 4g only.

I would be happy if I get a stable connection.... Telkom is in their last chance and I am looking for alternatives so long

Getting a 2 meg line that drops every few minutes. Fault has been open since June

That looks lovely, half om my house is in the covered are and the other half is not covered, worth considering....

Elevation is key too (if it's higher.. you might skip your signal going through a couple of walls to get direct line of site to your modem)


Put it as high as you can to the ceiling.. or to a wondow (top side of window... )

I live in a double story and the top I get LTE usually and edge at the bottom, I am deciding between this and a wisp at this stage as telkom has been unable(unwilling?) to resolve a 3 month old fault for me.... the wisp is uncapped and has los but its 5meg and you need all the dishes and stuff then as well...

My experience with Wisps the past 10 years are everything exept good.
There are really only a handfull that are really good and those usually do not cover my area

So, just over a year ago I bought a LTE router and simcards from Cellc, vodacom, MTN and telkom
All with relatively the same speeds, so I went with Cellc, as they had the best pricing with the amount of data.

Never looked back.

Here comes Rain with their double data deals......


Best would be for one of your friends, work colleagues to come over to your house and test

The only time i think the 110GB cap wont be enough is in December when I will be at home for 4 weeks about...

Perhaps try to see if one of the ISP's will test at your location

Cancellation form for telkom in ready to go, let see if the tech comes tomorrow as promised....

Then i will have to decide between LTE-A and the Wisp....
