Hey guys. I'm just curious as I haven't personally seen any news posts or anything which exactly define what's changed for 1 November.
What I do know is:
- 24h reset has been removed
- local is now 'uncapped'
Now, in this context, uncapped surely means free, too, but apparently once capped, local is uncapped BUT billed too?
What I dont understand is why international would become completely blocked and local become pay-as-you-go. This makes zero sense? Surely the whole point of local becoming uncapped was supposed to imply that it becomes free, too (the whole idea behind international bandwidth not CONTRIBUTING towards the cap). I can imagine what a mission it must be to isolate the two seperately because of implications such as the transparent caching system, but give us some damn news please I have no idea what's going on. I'm just over my 3GB monthly limit and am not capped on either local/international as of yet (thankfully so) but what's the story?!!

the are currently testing the uncapped in a specific area(dont no where) but it wont be free.....

they will be charging you because in the ADSL regulations wadda wadda it says that 'local bandwidth must be uncapped but NOT that it must be free ':(

in other words nothing rely is changing we will still be paying for it so its pointless.........

If that's true, it's honestly the biggest joke I've ever seen. Stupid regulations weren't worded right from the start. How pathetic.

What do we do? Carry on abusing local? or are we gonna get billed for this?

O donder!!! I hope they are not going to charge us because I could still surf international long after I reach my 1GB cap. Only this morning have I been restricted to local surfing.

AFAIK my bandwidth isn't free - I have to pay a connection fee, a line rental fee and an ISP fee, so where does free come into that?

I signed for a 3Gig package....they cannot change the conditions without official notification !

so from all this i gather that without official notification, the sudden uncapped local i have should and is infact free at this moment? they cant expect us to pay when they havent even given official notification? i signed on for my cap to end at 3gigs.. end of story, not for there to be local bandwidth on pay as i go.. stupid twats. but i shall use only some, and i expect not to pay.

Hi ,

Off the topic a bit but I noticed that my cap has been reset a few days ago. I was on 80% on my one account AND 45% on my 3gb. I am now on 1% and 3%. Anyone of u guys experience this ? I have a 2gb and a 3gb account.

Has anyone phoned Telkom and asked them? It might be worth a shot! Sure beats either losing out on moering the "free" local and not paying a cent more.... or......currently moering the "free" local and getting a massive bill at the end of this month...

I personally can't see them being able to bill customers for exceeding their caps by like 10GB of local - that would be totally against the whole "fixed cost broadband" which telkom punts in it's adverts!

Have just been on the line with them for 30min and was transferred to 4 different people....

I give up.. still no answer.......

One of you okes can try get some blood out of their stone!

I'd rather talk to the wall, there is actually a chance that the wall may respond

Sparticus, a few people got the luck you did, i managed to pull quite a bit myself without being capped.. something has gone horribly wrong at telkom, people arent syncing their line speeds, the usage tracker is(was) down, and people were getting free bw from everywhere, i wouldnt complain :) just accept and move on:P
