My Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo E HTPC packed up. I suspect the motherboard has failed. Because the Scaleo E chassis does not really allow for the installation of a new m/board, I would rather build a new HTPC from scratch.

I'm considering the Thermaltake DH 101 chassis at the moment. Although my wife wants me to get the Thermaltake DH102 or the Zalman HD160XT Plus, both of these have built-in touch screens.

What HTPC chassis would you recommend ?
Is the touch screen worth it or just a show off features (as I suspect) ?

Thanks

Had a touchscreen case, never used it, then it broke. Now have an Antec Fusion V2 and love it. Has its faults but is heavy, quiet and looks great.

Personally don't think the touchscreen ones are worth the extra bucks.

Thanks, didn't think so. I'll probably go for the Thermaltake DH101 or maybe the Zalman HD160 (without the touch screen). The Antec looks pretty good too.

Or you could go all 2001 monolith-esque (in black at any rate - the red one is rather more visually striking!)

Then you can toss in a zooty li'l Zotac mini-ITX board and have a killer system! :D

If I could take any case I would probably prefer this one:

Though my thoughts are for using it as a player only, not an actual PVR.

That's really cool. Do you get it here, though ?

The case will be completely visible in my living room, so looks are very important.

What I also like about the Thermaltake DH101 is that it almost matches my Harman Kardon Amp and DVD player (black top half with silver bottom half)
