What I do not understand about Africa

Its simple, they are not human beings. If they so badly want to go home, bugger off, and leave the ones that want to stay and work stay and have a peaceful life.

I dont know how the masses can starve because a few idiots tell them not to eat?
 
Maybe it has something to do with the why they behave. Killing off people by feeding others poisoned food is not beyond them so it's reasonable for them to expect it to be done to them :o
 
The last paragraph is especially striking: The same 'leaders' who told their people not to eat the donated food was spotted at a fast-food restaurant later that day stuffing themselves.

It's ironic that these people come here to SA to seek a better life. I don't have a problem with this (i probably would have done the same had i been in their situation back home) but when they are faced with a situation of this nature and then still want to call the shots, all my compassion for these ungrateful people flies out of the window. I will gladly pay to have you taken to the border, from there you are on your own. It's the old story of don't bite the hand that feeds you, when people that have gone back to Mozambique protest in their own country to get their government to press SA for remuneration on their losses.

I say GO HOME!!!! We have our own problems. Why does the rest of Africa insist on making their problems ours?
 
I can tell you one thing. I know a lot of people who declared refugee status during the 80's when escaping from the Soviet Bloc to countries like Austria and West Germany and refugee camps existed there too, but no-one or very few ppl caused the type of nonsense these Somalis cause here - in the Cape Town camp alone there are repeated
clashes with the Metro Cops/Security and numerous accounts of theft. The people escaping from the Eastern Bloc were much larger in numbers than 4000 people, yet
even among 4000 people the Somalis have to seperate themselves from the others (Zimbabweans, Congolese etc). They fight with the very people who are protecting their
lives, because if those cops/guards were not there, an organised group of tsotsis could
easily come and murder a large number of them.

I personally think they should deport these people - Somalis. The others don't seem to be as badly behaved.
 
Deportation of these offenders will only work if the Government secures the borders so that they don't come back. This is not a priority it seems. They are in fact, doing the exact opposite.

This treaty which they are pushing to eliminate the need for some African countries to not require visas when their citizens are travelling between them, will ensure that even larger numbers migrate over here.

I don't think you understood the article. It is about people who are forced to refuse the help that is offered to them, while they urgently need it. If their leaders were serious about their principles, they themselves would go hungry too.

The only other place that I am aware of that is not part of Africa where similar events are taking place, is Myanmar. There it is the army who intercepts food shipments for their own use while the rest of the country suffers.

If memory serves, the opening scenes of 'Black Hawk Down' portrayed the very same thing happening in Somalia, - another African country.
 
What morons! If they don't want to eat then let them starve to death.
 
I don't understand people who don't understand this. It could be about power plays, taking an opportunity to exercise influence. It could be out of fear, misguided or not. Nothing specifically African about it.
