What is “Cloud” computing?

Cloud computing is looking to be the way forward, with Microsoft making its first serious foray into a market that has traditionally been dominated by the likes of Google and Amazon.

I can only see one problem with it :

I don't buy it yet.

1. Data storage or data as a service. OK, maybe. Personally I find gmail slow and a fat pain. Security and privacy concern me.

2. Applets or software as a service. Eish! DirectX/COM part II. Trojans, viruses, and crappy apps. You've only got to do an XP update to see how horrendous this can be, even from a "trusted" ( LOL! ) source.
