What is CellC launching tomorrow?

It's not a revolution or a thing that will change MyBB members' minds. Quite a hype accessory thing to gather new clients.

ah. Must be something like a free can of coke with every new contract

And in similiar fashion to unprotected sex, instant gratification = 24 months of pain and suffering.....

If it's not a some form of uncapped won't make reverbs and will be useless for 97%+ of the populous.

Any update on the surprise... please tell me they launched uncapped lte at a set price of R500✈️

Pretty sure details will only come through around midday.

For now we can all continue to speculate.

I reckon they will launch cheaper unlimited deals.

They've increased their data prices in February so for them to announce a decrease I think it is unlikely. Unless that was done as a red herring for Vodacom and MTN to follow suit.

The Arabs have put in a big cash injection for building this new network and would want a ROI. I would expect the ad to talk about this new network which will be just better than the competition.

The ad says something unique to SA. Telkm 8TA halved their prices to R899 for uncapped. They wouldn't continue with the campaign if they intended to do the same.

Then again Telkom's offering is throttled to 2Mbps. It they offer no throttle the ad might be a dig at Telkom taking away consumers choice. R899 at LTE speed uncapped is attractive offering.
Them offering the same price at faster speed will make Telkom look pretty stupid.

Could also be a VOIP app. Don't think the other cellular providers in SA have done that yet.

Clear indication from Twitter. They not launching LTE today, only later this year...

I see no point in speculating on news that won't make consumers happy.

Unless it's a new device, buyout, partnership

They will announce that they will be selling all subscribers to MTN or Vodacom..... The masses will rejoice!

Ok so the day has come but not yet the time they are announcing it...... Sigh

An interesting thread this. Quite a bit of hype, from current Cell C customers hoping for some changes, and from other customers hoping for another shake up.

Thing is, outside of this thread - does anybody know of this launch? I would have had no clue if it wasnt for this thread.

their ad really hypes it up, wonder whats planned.

Yeah me too. The way they say it it sound massive but if I guess it most likely some other promotion that offers free cellc to cellc minutes..... Hope it's not.

I'd be pissed off. their line about changing the cellular industry indicates to me a game-changer...

Yeah I know but I've been following the carriers and Cellc with all their new promotions are no better than Vodacom and MTN. They are so sneaking saying free whatsapp on megabonus but the call rate is R1.50 per minute. So if you make any calls it offsets the saving you making with free whatsapp....

They reduced the 99c for real bonus durations. Introduced epic bundles that are not so epic if you what it offers.

So keeping all that in mind I'm not so optimistic...

In my view the market right now is primarily data. No once cares much about voice, although we all know we get ripped off a bit there too.

South Africa is/has been poised to go wireless no thanks to Telkom dragging their feet for many many years. So I'd expect aggressive 3G/4G prices as an ADSL replacement in the not too distant future and I think this is what most people are demanding.

To give you an indication. I stay in fkin FOURWAYS, JOHANNESBURG!!! and I can't get a Telkom line or fibre. Many developments are not putting Telkom infrastructure in these days as what general chat from other forumites indicate.

I hope Cell-C are jumping on this somehow.

Serious - what part of Fourways? Telkom and a number of FTTH providers are crawling all over Fourways at the moment. I guess if it is new development (i.e. along Dainfern Ridge) you will probably be out of luck, but the "older" part of Fourways/Broadacres/Pineslopes has good ADSL penetration.

Whatever CellC is going to announce as a "big surprise" will be something luke-warm. Like their not-so-epic #epic promotion.
