What is decolonised education?

You're beginning to get it Etienne. If you look at Zuma's behaviour from this perspective it all begins to drop into place doesn't it? After all, didn't he say that he was "100% Zulu boy"?

They should try Senokot, it helps with decolonisation.

The problem is that the backlog of crap is only temporarily purged while the small and large colons remain, true decolonisation would involve having a witch doctor remove their colons with a blunt, rusty knife normally used for circumcisions.

Rubbish. That is the mouthed excuse. There's no such belief. Just a world of hurt that they cannot point to any significant achievement by Africa in all of history.

See Etiennes posting. Why do we have to able to see it? We see the world through very different eyes to other peoples. To some people ghosts or Tokoloses are as real to them as, say, sub-atomic particles are to us.

They want separate development basically. I can understand that.
So let's have Orania and Bannanaia

The solution is quite simple, I'm surprised no one is seeing it: give the poor students their free tertiary education at a government administered university, the cANCer party can take over the administration of Walter Sisulu University, as an added bonus cadres can be redeployed as WSU lecturers and be given honorary doctorates and whatnot. Student accommodation will have to be decolonised (cow dung floors and the like).

The exodus of freeloading-property-destroying students that migrate to WSU, will take much of the burden off of "colonised" universities and students that choose to pay for their education will be doing so by choice because the alternative is forced-free-decolonised-education at WSU.

We need a war to settle this. White on black. Nothing less will do. The hatred will not stop without a war.

yeah, all the black and white supremacists that believe this is the way to go should go and have their little war and leave the rest of us out of it, maybe you can have it in Orania?

careful now, you are pointing towards a full circle.

it was all originally started with separate development, because the tribal leaders didnt want the evil white man ways to poison their traditions. later they realised it was a crap idea because they were left out(they didnt develop themselves) and cried foul.

rand was stronger than the dollar too back then, organising sanctions against us sorted out that pesky problem for the dollar... hey this seems strangly familiar in recent events... my gosh.

Mmm and how will these twats communicate? The alphabet is colonialist. Books are colonialist. The mind boggles at the absolute stupidity of these peasants.

Still laughing how none of our FMF protesters have got nothing at all to say in this thread :D

i just had an epiphany whilst slurping some coffee.

decolonisation would include the abandonment of the colonist's language & names in favour of local language - we see it already:

colonist: airtime
indigenous: iairtime

colonist: fibre
indigenous: ifibre

/questions self: "how is it that apple are so far ahead on all this"

- Decolonisation advances the interests of Africans, instead of advancing Eurocentric interests.

''Eurocentrism does not serve our interests culturally, socially, economically. It does not resolve the issues of Africa.

This actually makes some sense.

I sense a philosophical debate here :) Curious to know what exactly are the interests of Africans as opposed to others, and what - culturally speaking - would better serve them altruistically that current western culture and practices does poorly (Even better - what could western culture glean from African culture). Of course all on the basis of what the end goal is in the first place, which to be very honest I haven't been able to figure out :(

Let's just be a test case for RBE (Resource Based Economy) and be done with it :p That's the way we're heading anyway.

Absolutely perfect encapsulation of what Decolonised Education will achieve.

It goes to show that people want to do their own thing.
The whites did this and the blacks wanted in. Now that they are in they want out.
Lol.
We are are different that's the truth

Brown person adding his 2c here:

Oh c'mon. Just because a white person was the source of knowledge doesn't mean they are part of the group of dead whites who oppressed you. And let's be real here, apart from social/cultural differences and differences in intelligence, it's not like people from one race think differently from people from another race.

All knowledge builds upon existing knowledge. Just because the experts have the same skin colour as people who oppressed you doesn't change the fact that they are experts. Information is important, regardless of where it came from.

Get over your skin colour friend. Not every white person in a position of power/influence today is an "oppressive coloniser". SOME OF THEM ACTUALLY FOUGHT TO FREE YOU AND YOUR PARENTS.

This actually makes some sense.

Agreed. But do you as a 20 something year old have the knowledge/insight to actually tell what interests are being served and can actually PROVE it?

Agreed. African intellectuals should be given the same level of credit as their European counterparts. However, that doesn't mean they get that credit for free. Their work must be put under the microscope just like European experts.

Agree.

I don't care what you FEEL friend. Prove it. Gather the information and show that African language drama student's work(s) are getting lower marks than their English speaking equivalents.

Errrrrr, ok. What's the difference?

Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Again, JUST BECAUSE IT CAME FROM WHITE PEOPLE DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE IT BAD. FFS.

Great response.
