What is it about PC gaming?

In my experience those who went for consoles could not afford PC gaming anymore, which is kinda ironic. Fact is...smart people win in the long run with buying upgrades for a PC. I dn't see any reason for buying a console of I play every game at 1920X1080 with maxed settings and i did not spend an arm and a leg
 
Simple:

PC's are versatile ..
1) Game
2) Work (email, excel, word, whatever)
3) Browse the net for info (whether is be pr0n, news etc., spell check)
4) LAN
5) VOIP
6) etc .....

And to suck up to the mods ... can hang around MyBB :P
 
If you already have to have a pc, it might as well be a good one.
Therefore I don't need a console.

Would be a waste to buy something new if i already have something else that works better.
Don't get me wrong... wouldn't mind having a console, having one would be better than not having one. Unfortunately, benefits like gaming on the couch and 2 player games doesnt justify the investment if all i have to do is hook the pc up to a TV, and buy a clumsy controller.

Might be so, but the consoles have very good second-hand markets or rental options. Don't get me started on the whole "but I get my games for FREE" thing (yes, I'm looking at YOU Keeper!) - support the industry and buy your games.

So I guess I'll settle for the upgrading and overclocking point then, which I doubt a console will be able to do unless you want to void it's warranty and be banned from LIVE.
But yeah, I do enjoy all the mediums since I have all of them and really can't live without Xbox LIVE.

There is not really a big difference between these 2 mediums anymore.. Consoles are becoming Less ROM and more RAM if that makes any sence.

How many games actually implement the mouse and k/b for the ps3??

Been having this debate on the BioWare Dragon Age forums because a lot of the ps3 gamers would like to have the ability to use the mouse and k/b for that game instead of the controller. But what usually happens with multi platform games is for the console version companies only give the controller option because the xbox 360 and ps3 use controllers but only ps3 can use mouse and k/b.
 
I used to be a PC gamer, from around 1995 to 2004, during most of this time I also played on PS1/PS2. Prior to that I played on consoles and arcades, because I didn't own a PC.
The thing that put me off PC games was that it became to focused on new tech and gameplay/fun was like an afterthought(Doom 3 is an example of this. Great engine. Boring game)
Also the usual buggy experience requiring patches and upgrades irritated me. It became a chore just to play a game.
At the moment I tend to only play on PC if I absolutely have to, and even then it has to be on a game that is stable and doesn't ever crash. The only games that appeal to me now on PC are made by Blizzard, and I'm waiting for Starcraft II and Diablo III before upgrading.

Unreal Tournament 3 uses keyb/mouse on PS3. That's the only game that I know of that can on the console.
 
I don't like spending money on a lot of over expensive 'branded' pc components(all coming from china - big profit for few companies) when I Know there isn't alot of games that are worth while to justify spending 6-12K on a 'decent' rig.

Then you're just contributing to a lot of the planet's Electronic waste. No? If I don't NEED to upgrade then I won't
 
PC just doesn't have all the games I like simple as that.
Could never really get into PC gaming, the fact that I work with one whole day puts me off it as well.
I tend to use my home PC for downloading only these days
 
I love having a fast PC, and one of the perks of having a fast PC is that you can play the newest games on max better than consoles

Not necessarily

games like fifa and nhl looks waay better on consoles and even ea stated that with the pc versions they're trying to get the graphics and gameplay on to the level of the console versions, consoles have waay more exclusives than the pc and consoles usually gets the games first, the pc ends up getting inferior ports in the end,

the reality is pc gaming is dying just last week they interviewed the head of Id (who used to be a pc centric company) and even he stated that their newest game rage is being developed primarily with the 360 in mind with it then being ported to the pc then the ps3, that says alot imo as to where pc gaming is going)

That's because of EA's own decisions. EA prefers to leave the graphics low on the pc version since they feel they will sell more that way. They feel if they cater to the lowest pc spec instead of the highest they can sell more. Also their programmers aren't very good or they don't put enough effort into making scalable graphic systems.

CD PRojekt,Stardock,Steam/Valve and BioWare says pc gaming is healthy not even to mention Blizzard.

They have been saying pc gaming is dying since the early 1990's. It hasn't and it won't die. Also if you are basing it on so called sales figures heres a little secret those sales figures don't include digital distribution numbers. PC gaming in the developed world has moved away from the retail brick and mortar store and moved to online services like steam. They are making a killing but their numbers aren't accurately tracked by guys like the npd so it gives this false impression of pc gaming numbers. Besides I love how they like to lump all console sales figures together when its actually at least 4 different platforms.

PC gaming might not be king but it certainly ain't dying.
 
I am a complete console junky... been playing since the Launch of the PS1 and cant stop! I now have a Xbox360 and PS3 and love them so much! I thought I would start getting into some light PC gaming as it is way more competitive! But never the less, I still choose a controller over a Mouse and keyboard any day :)
 
Depends on the game for me. Sports and fighting/action games I use my xbox 360 or rumble pad but for all others I use the keyboard and mouse.
 
ironic...the better the console becomes the closer it comes to being a PC. imo
 
I have always thought about getting a Console, but you can do much more with a PC. yes you will have to end up Upgrading every 2-3 years if not earlier with new technology coming out every 6 months.

My Reasons for PC FTW in no particular order :

Its custom built(can be proud of it)
You have a keyboard and Mouse
LANS
Do more with it than just play Games/Music/Movies
Better Graphics
Cheaper games
Internet Browsing and Multiplayer Gaming

PC's Are Just AWESOME!!!
