This is a question that I have been asking myself for quite some time now and really cannot come up with a definite answer.

  • Is it the pleasure of modding your PC, in looks and/or performance?
  • Being part of the few who play a demanding game on maximun settings?
  • Do the games just look better?
  • Are the input devices better?

These are some of the things that crossed my mind, but would like to hear what others have to say.

PC FTW

It's because it's so easy to pirate the games.

That's the biggest reason I get when I ask my friends why they don't buy consoles.

1.I don't waste my time modding my pc.
2.I don't have a uber pc so I can't really play the latest games in max (E-penis shrinks)
3.The games look better unless you running console on HDMI then its a close call.
4.I love my mouse,I refuse to play FPS+RTS games on my xbox because mouse > all.

lol. Hard to believe that a dude with a controller can be more accurate than a dude with a mouse:p. I can see on trailers if its console or not by the movement of the crossair...

+1 reason for PC --- LAN's

The only FPS i'm playing on xbox is fallout and thats because of V.A.T.S.Otherwise I would jam it on pc.

Well console games are double the price, playing FPS on console's is annoying without a mouse.

I use my pc for work so i can use the excuse, i need 10k because my pc is to slow for "work" :p

Because the pc is personal. No pc is the same, each and every person has his own hardware that he prefers in his pc and usual has his windows and pc setup the way he likes it. Here I am specifically talking about gamers, I know the casual user and business user has similar setups.

With the console its all the same. There's very little difference between one guys xbox 360 to the next guys.

Mouse and k/b is also my preferred control method except for sport games but unlike the xbox 360 players I can connect a controller to my pc for those games that are better for them.

Games look better on a decent gaming rig. You need to be smart when upgrading, if you don't your research that's when you tend to complain about the cost the whole time.

Also real time pause rpg's work better with a mouse and k/b compared to a controller. Also the pc has the toolsets and mods.

Console are great but for me it will always be the pc.

@Stefan9

I totally agree with you. A PC is personal, your creation...a PC inherits some characteristics of the owner. When im at a LAN I tend to try and see the resembelance between the PC and the owner lol. You'll be surprised how alike they are lol.

I decent gaming PC has a substantial initial cost, but if you smart, like Stefan9 indicated, you win in the long run. Console games are just too darn expensive.

^Above is +1, agreed.

I prefer a PC over any console. I feel that I've spent my money well because computers are my passion.

I love gaming, I don't care about "out performing" someone, it's just what I like doing.

Plus PC games are cheaper and there is a wider range imho.

well you can basically do whatever you want with a pc.

need more space? buy a bigger harddrive - buy 2, 3,4,5,6 or 7 even - and not a one-and-only 120GB, but a 500GB,750GB,1TB,1.5TB or 2TB. need a faster HDD? Get a RAID Setup. Still Need faster? go for Raptors! Faster? SSD!

this goes for all other Gear - Mice, Keyboards, etc, etc.

there's just so much Stuff, and New Stuff every month!

with a console, you gotta sit with the same system for 5 years which looks, plays and performs like every other cloned XBox. the only difference is the date in which it will break - and if it does break you get to buy the same old technology over - not newer.

they can only mod their systems with stickers, if that can be counted as modding.

does anyone know how many different, say, CPU coolers there are? anyone at all....?

I guess I just don't like feeling Limited. with a PC there is always a program/app/utility/hack/trainer/setting/regedit entry/mod/tool that can do something you want. always.

Yes, a grey Toyota Yaris gets you from point A-to-B without any "complicated" buttons and levers, but I'm a fan of Customizing My Black and red Dodge Viper with Rotating blades on the customized front spoiler.
you can all drive grey yaris cars for all I care, My Car will run circles around your yaris - and I don't pay for fuel either. :D

I am into civilizations 4 at the moment. Doubt one could play this type of game on a console :/

OMG!I bought it and all the expansions at btgames the other day,had it a few years back but lost it.

I frikken love it.
It's destroying my life like arcanum did during my matric exams:mad:

Everything you mentioned their is correct. but there is a whole lot more than just to PC gaming.

My reason is the overclocking. Pushing the hardware to its limits just to get that few extra framerates ;)
Anti-Aliasing, Anisotrophic filtering...no jaggered edges like those found on consoles.
Another thing is that on a high end PC gfx are far more superior than a console and I am very gfx concious.
Games are reasonably cheaper. Sometimes a new release is have the price.
Adventure point and clicks, FPS with old faithful mouse and keyboard are still the king due to being more precise than a controller.

Pc has management type games. Consoles doesn't.

Consoles does have a more 'social' appeal tho. With xboxlive etc where people can talk while playing which is better than typing on a keyboard(which makes for thin fingers :P)

But I have to point out you can emulate windows on the playstation portable, you can run linux on the playstation 3. You can also use mice on these consoles if I remember correctly..

There is not really a big difference between these 2 mediums anymore.. Consoles are becoming Less ROM and more RAM if that makes any sence.

You do know you can get a mic for your pc right?

Console games don't have jagged edges anymore. Both the PS3 and the XBOX360 implement AA and AF. You're thinking PS2! :p

Not necessarily, depends on the game.

Might be so, but the consoles have very good second-hand markets or rental options. Don't get me started on the whole "but I get my games for FREE" thing (yes, I'm looking at YOU Keeper!) - support the industry and buy your games.

That's all.
