When you have 2 people playing online games simultaneously on an Adsl line what would be the minimum speed requirement?

Would a 2mb line suffice?

Not talking about shaping or throttling on the part of the isp, just the necessary line speed.

Depends on which games they play. WoW is much more forgiving than BF for instance.

Depends if you guys are using VoIP, and the upload would probably be the thing you guys should look out for.
If using VoIP and playing something like BF4, a 4Mbs line would probably be the minimum.

Yeah, Depends on what games you are playing. Some require faster bandwidth than others.

If you play on local servers (VERY VERY few) you will get by with minimal problems on a 4mbps line, but it won't be great. I use international servers and my ping goes from 190 - 300ms with 2 people. so you will experience some lag.

i would say a minimum speed would be 4mbps but 10mbps would be optimal so you don't have major lag. Unfortunately you don't actually need 10mbps Download. You mostly using the 1mbps Upload speed. This is why Fiber is so helpful.

I would order a 4mbps Fiber line in a heartbeat simply because of the 4mpbs upload & Download speed, which will help gaming tremendously. Some might only provide 2mbps Upload on a 4mbps line but thats still much much better than the current 512kbps you get on a 4mbps line and slower.

I got myself a 1meg and its perfect for CoD, DoTA, BF and EU servers with another person on this line playing online.

Higher line speed will not really affect your latency, and I doubt there is any online game that will max a 2 Mbps line. It's easy enough to upgrade the line later if needed anyway.
