What is next after win10 for old laptops?

It all depends on what you need.
If you need to dev, you'll likely be fine for a while, and can do your work in Linux.
When you play games, oh dear.. that's when the trouble comes in.
They're using the TPM for anti-cheat. TPM 1.2 is good enough but to get the sales advantage they pushed TPM 2.0.

Also note that it's the strangest thing, nobody seems interested in emulating this in software. Yet my current Win11 virtual machine has an emulated TPM 2.0 via Windows HyperV (or whatever it's called) and it's all happy as a pig in schitt.

I'll wait until next year when Support stops then upgrade... Win11 Updates and whatever bugs are remaining will be sorted out by then too.
You actually think windows11 will ever have the bugs sorted? Windows is the bug man! Move onto Linux. Soon you will wonder how you ever lived with the slow and bloated Microsoft OS in your life.

LinuxMint is very easy to get used to for someone who isn’t a programmer. It’s actually very similar to MacOS and extremely intuitive.
