Well the Lions Series is not a fair comparison as Meyer hasn't even had the chance to play them. They only visit every 12-years. Yes, a great thing to have on your CV, but you cannot use it as a comparison if the other guy has not had the privilege of coaching against them.

ok. I removed it.

PdV had the luck to get the ABs in a bad year. That does not happen often.

Exactly. This AB team is massively more consistent than they were before 2012, and it has a lot to do with the change in psychology after they won the 2011 World Cup.

Also, we're a lot more consistent under Heyneke, since we're coached properly, and you can see it. OK, Ireland was a pretty bad blip, but it doesn't happen that much these days, and the players showed against England that it wasn't much more than complacency.

be that as it may , in the end the records and stats speak for themselves.

If HM doesnt win the WC next year, I doubt he'll be remembered for anything as the Springbok coach.

Anyhow, Eskom are promising the appointment of Kebby Maphotsoe who will single-handedly ensure that South Africa shall forever be free of power issues&load-shedding with effect from the second week of December. No more power blips!

2007 Squad said:
Fullbacks: Percy Montgomery, Francois Steyn. Wings: Bryan Habana, Ashwin Willemse, Akona Ndungane, JP Pietersen. Centres: Jean de Villiers, Jaque Fourie, Wynand Olivier. Flyhalves: Butch James, Andre Pretorius. Scrumhalves: Fourie du Preez, Enrico Januarie, Ruan Pienaar. Loose Forwards: Pierre Spies, Juan Smith, Bob Skinstad, Danie Rossouw, Schalk Burger, Wikus van Heerden. Locks: Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, Albert van den Berg, Johann Muller. Props: CJ van der Linde, Os du Randt, BJ Botha, Gurthro Steenkamp. Hookers: Gary Botha, John Smit(captain).

This year Heineke played with 10 of the 2007 squad and Francois Steyn, Jaque Fourie and a few others isn't counted in that that he has used before.

You have to use who is already there.

And HM continues to try and dig up some of the dead from that same World Cup squad. . .

Neither of these coaches are anything to talk about.

As of right now (following the defeat to Argentina);

de Villiers - Played 48, Won 30, Lost 18 (62.5%)
de Villiers vs the All Blacks - Played 11, Won 5, Lost 6 (45.5%)
de Villiers vs the Wallabies - Played 12, Won 4, Lost 8 (33.3%)

Meyer - Played 40, Won 26, Lost 12, Drew 2 (65%)
Meyer vs the All Blacks - Played 7, Won 1, Lost 5 (14%)
Meyer vs the Wallabies - Played 7, Won 4, Lost 3 (57%)

And Springboks dropped to 5th place in World Rankings.

My concern with HM is that he does not look like he has a plan or even what his best XV looks like.

It looks like he is going to rely on players that is either currently injured or have been injured for most of the season with very little game time.
There is 80mins of rugby left before the WC. Is that really enough to give game time for the fringe players (if selected)?

One can't really blame PDivvy for the team he took over from Jake. Anyone in that position would have done the same thing. You will be dumb not to.

Looking at the stats above, it appears much of a muchness with nothing really between the 2. Although PDivvy did win a trophy.
