Truth be told, I looked crap without a beard when I was younger. I've kind of grown into my face and now I can walk around without the beard and it looks normal. A few years ago, it didn't. Perhaps that's why older guys shave?

Some older guys shave it off because they've heard it makes you look younger. In my experience that holds some water when you are actually young, but everyone I know who has done it in their 50s and 60s just looked even older without their beard. So perhaps there's a tipping point or some faces may just look better with a beard no matter what.
