What is your water usage?

Also around a thousand litres a day for the 3 of us

10kl per month, 3 of us. During the CT drought we went down to 6kl. Prior to drought, we were between 20kl to 30kl.

@bwana Afaik, is also on the low usage side due to (the place previously known as PE) water issues.

We are currently averaging 12 kL per month, 3 people, freestanding house with garden. Also used around 2/3 of that when Day Zero was looming.

1. Small drips/leaks over time waste a lot of water. Check your meter, if it moves and no water is being used, you have a leak or a faulty meter.

2. Alternative water source, rain tanks, wellpoint/borehole, can reduce your municipality water consumption. My wellpoint is used for irrigation and laundry and other uses, eg pressure washing the driveway etc.

3. Appliances, modern appliances use less water (dishwasher and washing machines etc).

Yeah - we're averaging 4-5 at the moment for a family of four (with regular guests). Not sure if there are still water restrictions in place tbh but I think there are...

We only seem to get post every 4-5 months so this is from October...

Is there any way to check online?
Yeah - but it's more difficult registering without an ID number and I can't be arsed to go in and do it.

Our usage is pretty reasonable because we do all our laundry with rain water.

Its amazing how much drinking water we waste on other stuff.
Oddly enough we buy our drinking water...

I don't count usage now after instaling a Borehole. It will last for another 5 decades according to the soil engineers report! Best R40k I ever spent. It will pay itself over many times over the years. Maintenance is just a change of filters every few months, and checking the pumps.

19kl last month, that was 28 days. We are 3 adults and 3 kids.
3kl out of that 19 was to top up the pool..

Water savers on all taps, and water saving flushes.

Fark me guys, my last bill was 42KL

Family of 6, with nothing out of the ordinary afaik

Last month I did not fill up the pool, and watered the garden very little

I tested our meter today, filled a 50L jerry and measured only 27L on the meter, so don't think the meter is faulty.

Wonder if it's the COJ air issue that is affecting me..

Investigating a borehole now, for reliability and cost savings

If a 50l can registers as 27l it's very faulty, but in a good way.

I suspect the can was only 25l though.

EDIT: unless this is a riddle.. in which case there was already 23l in the can...

Close all the taps and check if the meter moves. If it does you have a leak.
