Was WFH since lockdown, but back to hybrid 3 days in office since 15th Feb.

Currently going in once bi-weekly. Need the CT trains working before I bother 3 days a week.

I already had a nice second screen at my WFH desk so I left my spare monitor at work. Others where allowed to take a screen home. Just brought home my laptop and desk skype phone. The laptop is fairly basic and only really has outlook and Teams open and then a remote session to my work dev machine to do the heavy lifting and actual dev work. The laptop would struggle to keep up with the desktop (although calling it a desktop is a stretch):

Interestingly with all the corporate spyware and security software my laptop was taking up to 12 min to restart and was sluggish often. Just had it upgraded from 8GB to 16GB and had them swap out the HDD for an SSD and now it flies. One of the benefits of working for a big bank is they actually spend on the hardware (At least in my team they do).

I gave back my company hardware back in July of 2020 after I virtualized my workstation. I got far better performance running my work environment in Hyper-V on my Ryzen PC with 32GB RAM. Later in 2020 I upgraded to a 4K monitor and now there is no way I can go back to developing on anything else. Having the desktop real estate of 4x FHD screens in one is just bliss.

This is why I question the hybrid model and the compromises that come with it. Working on a Ryzen 7 8C/16T with 4K display is not something you can easily take on the road. Even if I do work from the office one day, I will have to remote into my work VM at home. I already do that when I work from the holiday house and using FHD feels so cramped.

For me there is no way of going back.
 
WFH has become the status quo. I won't be going back to the office. Will go in for meetings and to see clients.
 
More WFH than actually being in the office which works out well!

I wish our IT team was as forward thinking, I lost local admin rights to corporate PC, plus using a proxy service for "protection", I was thinking about resigning :D

Still working from home, I go in once every two months when I need something from the office.
 
Full time but with uncertainties.
Government meddling and taxing the fruit juice industry has been tough.
Last 3 years have been the worst coupled with covid.
 
2 days a week at office, rest of the time from home.
 
Voted for Hybrid, but actual situation currently is 95% from home

Before I changed to contracting I managed people. What I found is a high percentage actually dont have the integrity to make WFH a valid scenario

I will never accept company hardware again, it is over priced and under performs. I'd rather make the investment I made (over R30k if I include the inverter) and know that I own it out right and I get a work environment that works for me. Sure, out company uses a crappy VPN but at least that is now isolated to inside my work VM and not sitting on any bare metal in my house.

The whole idea of working on a laptop just has management/useless written all over it for me.

A soon as level 3 came I had to come twice into the office to compensate due to the fact that I have young children who attend school. Soonest the schools reopened, came back full time.

I would of preferred working from home full time though as I am fully capable to do my job remotely.
