What it will take to keep Eskom going

The chief operating officer of South Africa’s electricity utility, Eskom, warned in May that the government should urgently start building new generating capacity. He was referring to a new build programme which has existed for at least a decade.

Eskom cannot be saved. There is no longer sufficient taxpayers or incoming investments to keep the institution going, let alone building new capacity. Even more so clean energy. What needs to be done is unthinkable to the ANC. So, time has come to give up. Take a look up North and see what happened with the failed countries. South Africa will be going the same route. It is just a matter of the clock ticking down.

So, prophet, what is it that needs to be done and is unthinkable for the ANC.

20 years too late. Eskom is moer toe. Now in the last moments of the game they want to "fix" it. You got people stealing Eskom blind, people sabotaging to get deals, most qualified people left etc. Old white ballies can't even come and help Eskom...

Should have allowed private companies to do power generation. So Eskom can die off, but ANC won't allow that. Too much money to be made for BEE companies (aka cadres). I mean... forcing people to use Eskom is forcing us to give money to cadres.

And I see their 100 days of blackouts is going to be spot on. I thought they were going to do 10-20 days and say "see we saved 80 days". But the amount of black outs going on... 100 days will be spot on.

You know well. You have seen my posts.

Firstly, they are going to need to get rid of both AA and BEE. They are going to need to end union interference at Eskom. They are going to need to relax various labour laws. They are going to need to bring back old skills from abroad and replace the whole current workforce. It will likely cost them 100 times the cost to fix Eskom to persuade these people to come back. They are going to need to drop "clean energy", "alternative energy". They will need to privatize Eskom 100% and hand control to a foreign institution that will allow no local government interference.

But even if they do all this, it will still take around 25-100 years before Eskom will be operating at the levels it did in 1990. All of us living today will not see the benefits of such decision, if it should ever happen.

Its time for you to dip into that piggy bank and buy that solar system. We know you want to.

The DA is just another socialist failure, competing with the ANC to be useless. The DA will never be able to supply affordable electricity. Just like the ANC, the DA will force itself to be the middleman and fvck it up.
Lol yeah no. Things are running fine here.
