I have been an iPhone user for about 2 years now, and although it has its limitations, it has been a great, smooth experience for me.

Although iPhones dont have "bleeding edge" tech, what they do have, they do well and make sure it 100% works.

It is consistent through its UI and the software gets updated often.

It has great build quality and it "just works" when you want to do something.

What has kept you with iPhone and what keeps you loyal to the brand?

Hmm, 3 years coming from the Galaxy S line.

My biggest thing is the constant updates - I got tired of having to do custom roms the whole time on android.

The "just works" thing is really just for the mainstream stuff. If you want something specific that is not mainstream it won't just work.

The other thing that didn't work for me the first time I tried to use an iPhone was that I didn't have wifi - I had a big 3G bundle and you couldn't update your stuff using that data. My setup changed and then an iPhone became feasible for me. Before that the iPhone was a real schlep for me to use - because nothing just worked.

Currently my upgrade time on my iphone is much longer - as I haven't felt the urge to upgrade yet (the X made me think about it, but I will wait for the second one in that form factor)

I'm going for my second year on iPhone. Amazing camera, we'll integrated (and safe) apps and seamless integration into the ecosystem.

I don't like the schlep of moving from another ecosystem.thy could have made that easier. Some seemlingly straightforward things are difficult or even impossible, like editing a text file on cloudstorage or downloading a video from the web.

Ja when I first moved to iPhone there were a lot of small quirks that irritated me like the fact that iOS doesn't have a dedicated file system like Android, no back button, 100mb download limit etc

But once you got used to it and worked around you begin to appreciate all that is iOS.

This was on mobile data, but I think that limit has been removed now or increased, as this isn't the case anymore.

Yes, but I was specifically talking about the mobile download limit. Had 2Gigs and no wifi the first time around. The update limit was 20mb then. After trying again after a few years it was much more comfortable for me as I had uncapped wifi etc.

I remember in 2016, my iPhone 4s was stolen, I bought an android device. I used for 2 months and I just couldn't take it, I went back to iOS.
It's just so consistent.
If it hangs on you for a few seconds, it shoots back up to speed.
Safe and approved apps.

Sucks that it goes through cellular data like a child ploughing through candy, but it's actually easier to track data usage.

Switched from Android for two reasons. The first is the matter of updates that has already been mentioned.

The second is that I use my devices to help in earning an income. I don't care who makes them so long as they support this function. The iPhone and iPad fit my personal workflow best.

The fact that you can have any one of the previous 6 odd versions of the phone and you are pretty much still up to date. Bar some small hardware changes, that irrational urge we have been indoctrinated with to get a new ground breaking one with every release just doesn't pop up in my mind anymore... with Samsung I could never wait to get the latest one, partly because that was the only way you could possibly see the next 2 android versions.

I also tend to trust the apps more, maybe it's a false sense of security, but I feel the apps are screened better and generally of higher quality. So longevity I guess, also, it "just works" and keeps things simple.

I recently moved from my Samsung Note 8 back to an iPhone 6. The Note is a fantastic device with an awesome camera, display etc. etc., but the cleaner look and feel of the iPhone is less distracting and integrates with my other Mac products (handoff, universal clipboard etc.). I have a 2012 MacBook that is still going strong, so build quality is also a consideration with these products.

I've been an Apple fan for years.

Having said that, I've tried Samsung, Sony and Huawei offerings and found them to be too bulky, cluttered, and just very non-efficient compared to iPhones.

Although i'll always stick to Apple products, I no doubt admit there's good stuff out there - Samsungs Galaxy has always had very impressive displays for example.

Having been through multiple iPhones, iPads as well as multiple Android (Samsung, Sony & Huawei) phones & tablets I have found the iOS system far more user friendly, intuitive and sensible to use/operate. Plus the regular updates from Apple, as opposed to Android (I'm still waiting for Huawei to release any OS or security updates for a 3 year old P8......).

Been using an iPhone from iPhone 5 when I got the *****s with Blackberry who refused to repair a 3 month old unit that was fubar. Subsequently had 5S and now using 6S. Was due for an upgrade 3rd quarter last year, decided no need, phone still works 100% all the time.

I know there are lots of Apple detractors, however if you want to use the phone as a work tool & require it to simply work, then IMHO Apple is the only way to go.

If on the other hand you want it as a toy to fiddle and play with, then go Android as it is easier to flash a new ROM and faff with.

Couple of reasons to illustrate why I feel the way I do:
1. When replying to an email from iOS there is the option to always BCC myself. This way the email chain remains intact on both desktop & phone. This can be set to happen automatically. On Android I need to input my own address in the BCC field every time I send an email. At 40+ emails a day it becomes a PITA.
2. When deleting a text message on iOS I simply swipe left. On Android I must touch & hold, then press delete, then press OK when asked if I am sure I want to delete it. What a PITA. Is this OS for stupid and/or indecisive people? ;)
3. iOS keyboard is brilliant. Plus it has emoticons etc. built in already. Android (both Sony & Huawei) stock keyboard is atrocious! I then need to go to the App store, seek & find an app for something as basic as a keyboard? Seriously? It's idiotic, why can't the standard ones be functional? Huawei didn't even have emoticons! So I had to try 3, 4 or 5 apps before finding a decent one, just to be able to bloody type an email or text message!

Currently using a P8 and the 6S. Hate the P8 - slow, lags, glitches on emails at least once a day & needs to be rebooted. It will be upgraded in a few months to an iPhone X.

The fact that I don't have another device?

Seriously, I've loved my time on iOS, but it's time to look at Android again. Call it boredom.

I also get that from time to time. Then I typically spend up to a month on another device just to switch back to my iPhone.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.

It just works for me. Have an SE now. However, friend has the upmarket Nokia and this is an amazing phone. It even has 3 cameras!

My business phone is Windows Phone. My other phone is a Huawei Mate 7. I'm always in the game.

Yeah, a colleague ordered one from Takealot for just over R2k. I was quite amazed at the build, speed and screen (although a bit low res - the response and brightness was great). The only drawback is the rather crappy camera. And apparently the battery is boss - like Nokias should be.
