What keeps you using an iPhone?

Using POP3, messages deleted after 30 days. I'm referring to messages I've sent from my phone. These don't get stored on the server. In any event, my point was that iOS makes it easy, droid does not.

There is an option to specify where Sent Items are stored. For some daft reason this defaults to local for some reason.

Could be a POP3 limitation but I don't remember it being that, just a default of iOS.

Maybe. Use settings to decide how long messages should be kept for. Then you never have to delete, they automatically do so after the set period of time. In my case, 30 days. That way I never have to worry about a "select all" in order to delete.

Aah yes I remember now they added that with iOS 10 or 11. Definitely a better solution I'm not a fan of manually doing anything.

I think android is for those who like to play with their tech, whereas iOS is for those who like their tech to simply work without having to faff in order to get it to do so. iPhones are simple to setup & even easier to work with.

See this is where I'm a bit of an outlier I guess because I love to play and faff with stuff as much as the next oke but the sales pitch of Android "customization and do whatever you want" just hasn't presented itself to me because it's not as open or customizable as it's lauded for at least not where it really matters.

Like Notifications on Nougat are useless and lack many of the functions of iOS.

There there is the Share menu that gives you TOO MANY options and no option to trim it down to the stuff you want to use like iOS.

Everything always needs another app or third party utility to make the customization happen (and that's if it's possible) where the base OS is completely lacking.

iOS has some limitations sure...but none of those matter to me. The limitations on Android are everywhere that I need the functionality that iOS offers out of the box.

Don't even get me started on the lack of a native Keychain system and simple stuff like a Bedtime timer. **** alarms don't work half the time on Android.

Wouldn't know - I just use it, & the option to BCC myself is an easy to use & a useful option. Even if there is an option on where to store the email, that option isn't available in 'droid. At least not on the sony or huawei that I've used/using.

Same here, I just prefer to faff on cars & mototcycles, not mobile phones! Phone is a tool, it needs to do what I want it to, not I need to adjust to use the tool the way it needs to be used. Including third party apps just to be able to type an emoticon....

What I have noticed, is that by & large, many of the folk who denigrate apple are the same folk that are unable to afford one. But that's a whole different debate...........

A few things.

Decent uniformity across most popular apps (such as swipe left to go back).

Being able to use it for ages without needing to backup and restore due to it starting to slow down (he'll, I don't even power mine down for months at a time).

Uniformity across devices. If you can use one iPhone, you can use any iPhone.

It just works. I know that one is hard to quantify, but it's something you need to experience.

I came from Android, I was a power user (I used to flash different ROMs almost daily at one stage), but a phone is supposed to make my life easier and an iPhone does it like nothing else I've used.

Don't get me wrong, there are things I miss from the Android side, even simple things such as full home screen customization, but it's a tradeoff that I'm happy enough with to not look back easily.

Time to get off the POP3 I reckon.

As for the cost thing that's less and less valid with Apple keeping older phones in the line up that still blow lower end droids out of the water.

The Droid people just never consider them.

1 - Better voice quality for outgoing calls. Far better than Telkom landline, as good as a fibre voice line
2 - I can hear the caller. The previous SONY phone was very poor
3 - WhatsApp voice is easy to use and is accurate

I want a phone that just works, when I need it to. Have to say though, the Google Music app is making me think to change to Android, as it is fscked on iOS. Same for a friend of mine. Don't want to move back to Apple Music.

I’m locked in with macs / iPhones for the whole family. Everything gets handed down to the kids when we upgrade. But very happy . Family sharing is amazing

nothing. overpriced just for the name.

Huawei P10 all the way.

Vodacom Smart L+. I hate it, but what can we do? My personal upgrade will be a P10 Pro for sure.

That's your problem. It's a fab phone. We're not talking about the paackage! Far cheaper than equiv Iph and Sam,b3fully made, well spec'd..methinks your gripes are clouding your objectivity.

Got locked into the Apple ecosystem...happened slowly like quicksand...now it's too late to get out

I bought an iPhone 8+ and I was an Apple hater for many years. To be honest it works well and although it took a while to get used to the UI and buttons, it's clean and quick. I also use a OnePlus 6 and while both work well, the Android phone is just more intuitive and "feels" better in my large hands.

Honestly. I love iOS. Wanted to make an Android my daily for a while now but can’t lose my WhatsApp chats so I’m stuck for the moment.

P20 lite being my work phone and it chugs just as well as the iPhone tbh

I use an iPhone 7 Plus exclusively to fly a dji drone. Tried using it as a regular smartphone, but the UI is ridiculously primitive and the platform too closed.

Longevity. That's the thing about Apple products. For example, my 2011 Macbook Pro klaps my 2016 Dell laptop all day on performance and good manners (stability).

I've tried a Samsung S6 Edge, S7 Edge, S7 (normal) a Huawei P9, An Xperia Z4.

All they did was cost me money because they will never ever have the usability, reliability and speed of an iPhone. They were slow, Android is like using some copy-and-pasted unreliable OS that never works the same way from one day to the next. In some cases I even traded DOWN to go back to an iPhone and i still found it 100x better to use.

I'm never buying anything else. Just a waste of money.

I simply don’t like Android. Too much fiddling.

I’d love to get something else than an IPhone next though.
