What makes Soweto so special?

I don't see anything in this article that addresses the question - what makes Soweto so special?

The rest of us are paying for electricity and yet we're still being cut off. Their 10 hour cut is pitiful compared to the up to 40 hours we've had to endure due to "cable faults". It's BS...
 
Non payers have government backing them, us payers must go get ****ed, lets all become non payers, perhaps then none of us will get load shed
 
What makes them so special? They keep voting the ruling party in power
 
It is good that Eskom isn’t considering writing off the outstanding amount and abandoning the installation of the prepaid meters.
Hopefully they won’t fold under pressure.
 
I heard the other day that the name Soweto was derived from "South Western Town"...

I think it'll be passed on to city power customers, we'll have to pay off their debt and also pay for their free electricity
 
The ANC meanwhile, called on Eskom to hand Soweto back to the City of Johannesburg through City Power.

No, we don't want them back. All that will mean is that City Power will end up bankrupt and Eskom will be turning us off instead. What a bloody stupid thing to say...
 
Unless Soweto pays it's bills/implements prepaid meters/STOPS ALL ILLEGAL CONNECTIONS then I rate that they should be turned off. Don't hesitate. Eskom is supposed to be a business what business would give away so much for free?


But no they won't... It's fine those who do pay will use alot less(If they haven't already taken themselves off the grid) then what? Are they going to raise the rates again? 100% increase of 0 is still 0...

Everyone who thinks that Mmusi is going to be the saviour of SA is in for disappointment. The ANC will not go down easily, heck they might even call in Mad Bob as a special consultant to help deal with a puppet of the west...

The only question that needs to be raised is, why is anyone paying?
 
a Perpetual victim mentality.

e-tolls = user pays system, government insists
soweto = user doesn't pay system, government on side of non-payers

Does not compute.
