What makes this Boere Bread diff from Normal Bread

My Ouma used to bake these for us.There is 60 years worth of love, caring, dedication and hard work in one of these breads. She ended up having to bake 2...The hot bread didn't survive very long:D

If any soutie wants to call us dense I would gladly give him a history lesson about the Anglo-boer war and just show him how dense I am:twisted:

Its because normal bread does have preservatives in it, you will notice its not a dense because they worked out exactly the minimum to use to save money. I bake my own bread and its much denser than normal bread. Eating 2 slices is like having a huge meal. If you bake it yourself it works out just over R5 per loaf.

Although it doesn't stay fresh for as long as the bread in the shop does but that's due to the preservatives.

Remember visiting the grandparents in CT for holidays and my gran baked four loafs a day with all the family there. The smell of that hot bread had one salivating, warm bread with butter (margerine was a swear word) was awesome or you could have home made jams as well.
