What new 55" 4K TV?

I currently have a Samsung 55D7000 that I bought a few years ago.

I feel the need for a 4K TV now that I have 200mb fiber at home and I can now stream/download 4K content. I have a PS4, DSTV and an Apple Tv connected to it. I also hav a Plex server in my homelab.

As much as I would want OLED, I can't afford it. My max budget is R20k.

What are my options?

For 20k you can get ULED and it can be 65". Look at the Hisense 65" M7030, you won't be disappointed.

What about Samsung QLED, QA55Q6FNAKXXA?
 
Well QLED is similar to what Hisense does with ULED, it's not OLED so don't think those two are the same as OLED. But go check both of them and see which you prefer. Samsung has the brand name behind it, but I've read that there have been a few 2017 LEDs of theirs sent back due to clouding.

Cheapest i have seen a C7 was for R25k. I don't see it dropping below R20k any time soon.
 
I bought a Panasonic Viera 4K Ultra HD (IPS LED with HDR) TV from Tafelberg Furnishers. They have the 49" and 55" models going for R9700 and R11700 respectively. These TVs are very, very hard to beat...

I had the same mindset as you, OP, as I also have 200Mbps fibre and wanted a TV to compliment it and I can tell you I am absolutely delighted with it. Picture quality is just stunning.

Do you know which models they are? The Panasonic website (local) seems to indicate that we only get the mid-range models. In New Zealand, you can get the higher end models (even OLED).

I am looking for a higher "motion rate" TV, i know you can't really get 100/120hz with 4k, but it is a lot better with 1080p than 60hz atleast?

My research indicates that there are way too many models and list prices means nothing. You have to spend a lot of time to find the real price of a TV. I am still very undecided but the above looks like good options to me.

I'm holding out until November - hopefully there will be some decent Black Friday deals to either pick up a Samsung 2018 QLED TV or the LG OLED (C7 or B7). There were plenty of deals on the QLEDs last year.

Not really, but we are a big family, 3 adults and 4 kids all with various devices. We also have 3 x smart tv's with 3 x apple tv's as well.

On the homelab front there is a Plex server that is fed movies/TV via Ombi/Sonarr/Radarr.

So it helps to have excess bandwidth.

Well, last year the QLEDs were a good couple of thousand off the normal price. Sure, you're not going to get the TV for close to free like the US, but I'm just looking for a reasonable saving.

That's exactly why I asked that rhetorical question. 200mb is overkill just to stream stuff.
The devices from the kids don't even use much data, assuming they don't have a 4k phone to stream stuff to...
