What petrol do you use? (Not a car thread)

Not really a motoring thread. More a study of habits.

What are the reasons you use a certain brand of petrol or diesel? I realized this morning that the only reason I used Caltex is because the station is the closest to the highway on-ramp I use the most. I do this even though I've noticed that BP gives about 50km's per tank more.

Do you use a specific brand? If so why? If not why not?

The BP attendant rock your car to get the last few drops in?

Nope. I always tell the guys to only fill to the autostop. 99 times out of 100 they listen. I do this so that my consumption calculations in my head have the same baseline.

I generally fill up @ Caltex and Shell. Love Shell 95 unleaded, so i treat my baby to that every now and again otherwise it's 93.

closest stations are Shell and Engen. My preference is Engen, because i get better mileage from Engen as compared to Shell. I fill with 95 at both.

Only Shell 95 unleaded.

That is all i use as well, i will not put anything else in my car unless i am running on fumes and there is no shell by the time i run outta gas but i hardly ever put myself in that position.

Is there really a difference between the 95 fuels? I hear they all come from the same refineries anyway.

Yip, fill up as soon as it hits reserve!:)

It does make a difference, turbo cars should use it on the highveld.
But NA cars can also gain more power, and a much smoother drive on the highveld! But I suggest use 95 on alternate fill ups. Most cars service book will advise to use highest octane available.

I fill my scooter with R20 of whatever unleaded fuel is available at that point in time.
I don't give a hoot what name it is labelled as.

No i mean is there a difference between 95 from Shell, or BP, or Total... I know its always better to go for higher octane... I see overseas they have 98 RON

No i don't think so, i just use shell and it makes my car go further and without doubt has more power than 93 so i just use shell.

BP all the way you really do get more Km to the tank with out shaking the car to get a few extra drops in
