People who spend over R13k on a phone need their head checked. Nothing wrong with the Xiaomi's. I can buy three for the price of a S7. And the S7 doesn't even come with usb type c. And at the end of owning a phone for two years, they all look like crap anyway.

I enjoyed mine. Had a really good camera and was very fast. No lag whatsoever in the time I had it

Paper specs are all very well, but people with the money who want to buy top class don't buy cheap lower quality budget Chinese manufacturer handsets.

They look pretty in pictures and remarkable by specs, but never quite live up to those expectations in long term use...

No one begrudges the poor person who can't afford better, those phones do the job quite well for what they are, but the person who can afford better will always choose the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy over the budget Chinese maker's handsets 100 times out of 100.
Except when the most expensive top of the range phone is literally a ticking timebomb.

Its all relative what you consider to be "quality" because its obvious the big boys are starting to put cheap chinese rubbish in their high end devices.

And then there's the principal of companies compromising on loyalty forcing you to pay more to actually use the device - because they know you will.

Soon if not now you're only paying for the logo.

Not saying that its bad to choose the best phone you can afford, but at least you should get what you pay.

A R15 000 device should give you a good run and not be worthless after 2 years.

It seems this was caused by a lack of proper testing and a rush to get to market rather than using the cheapest possible components. The firm involved is even part owned by Samsung, so unlikely to be at the Zopo/Meizu/Cubot etc cheapness level.

If it was to happen again your point might be more relevant and point more to Samsung trying to use cheap parts than a singular mistake in their supply line (which is more likely).
